Then I guess the case is still not closed, which means they might not be innocent. And they were charged with smuggling, so we didn't make any mistake for calling them "suspected" smugglers

No suspected Smugglers are Charged for Smuggling understand??

But they were not arrested for spying, right?

Tell me the term other than "Spy" for a Foreigner accused of the following charges

According to Local police chief:
"We arrested them for trespassing as we found them on Indian soil without a valid Indian visa," Kakkar said, adding the three were caught taking photographs of border guards installations.

We are suspecting their involvement in some money laundering activity as they were carrying Indian PAN (tax document) cards in their names."

Ask your police to find out, before that refrain yourself from calling people with a Indian pan card spy.

Only Indian pan Card?? They were arrested for few other things as well which If Not Confirms but is a serious symptom of Spying ...

In the past, a Roman would simply utter the words, Civilus Romanus, and be able to walk in foreign lands with no fear, as all feared the power of Rome. During the Han Dynasty, someone who even looked Chinese could wander into barbarian lands with no fear, because Hanwu said, 犯我强汉者,虽远必诛!Today, what happens? Our citizens get arrested for no reason other than forgetting their documents!

In the future, I hope that we must only utter the words 中国, and people would think twice.

Not sure merely uttering Civilus Romanus would have helped the Romans in Persian territory, or India could be pass off as barbarians.

Anyway the crux of your post is Chinese should be exempt of rules and regulation of GoI, sorry that's not gonna happen as long as the nation Republic of India exists, no one is exempt of Indian laws in Indian territory including Indians themselves.

It has been reported that one of the arrested Chinese nationals had an Indian PAN card & that they tried to initially pass themselves as Indian nationals. If this is true, then these people are in much more serious trouble than they would be if they merely crossed the border by mistake. This is also bad news for Huawei Technologies if they are indeed their workers. They have had a tough few years trying to convince Indian authorities that their equipment would not be used for spying & the Indian Intelligence services are still suspicious of them. This incident could not have come at a worse time for them.

Who reported that, and is there any evidence to support that report?

According to Local police chief Sanjay Kakkar:

"We are suspecting their involvement in some money laundering activity as they were carrying Indian PAN (tax document) cards in their names."

So basically, they are "suspected" of money laundering.

Yet somehow this has turned into "spying".

I quoted Only those because you asked For that particular thing, Local Police chief even said this

They are supporters of free Tibet movement & HH Dalai Lama. Release them.

So basically, they HAVE NOT been charged with being spies.

Yet the Indian media doesn't want to wait until the charge comes out, they want to make their own charges.

Is it wrong of me... to think that they should have waited for the charges to come out, before making such a serious and life-changing accusation...

The Indian media makes its headlines & in this case seems to have done so correctly on the basis of information provided to it by the police. It is not for them to ascertain whether the allegations are true or not, that's the job of the police. The Indian media have carried the Chinese denial in their publications. I do not see anything wrong with their actions. See the clear use of the word suspected.

How fast do the "wheels of justice" turn in India, and how soon will we know what exactly it is that they have been charged with, and how long would it take for the case to be resolved?

Usually a very tedious process, but am sure Chinese Embassy officials must be all over the case by now, so the whole process of likely to be expedited

That would depend on what the police decide about the intentions of these persons. If they are convinced that they are harmless & have inadvertently crossed the border, then the chances are that matter will be dealt with fairly quickly providing there is an agreement of reciprocity from the Chinese. If they are thought to be involved in serious crimes, then the process is much, much longer & will be dealt with toughly. Spying might actually be the easier of the two offences to get out of because that can be dealt with at governmental level. Money laundering on the other hand holds the prospect of lengthy jail sentences for the accused.
