Look at Taiwan, Taiwan is a Confucius country. A Confucius China is a country of free religion, just like the Confucius China during imperial era. Did you know from where modern free religion idea came from? It came from the Confucius China.

There are thousands of exiled Tibetans in Taiwan, not single one of them protest and did self-immolation against Taiwan. To be honest, Tibetan and Han Chinese is very very close.

China media is the communist mouthpiece, that is why they say nice things. Let the private media do the report, do the investigation, you will notice many ugly things in China. 20-10 years ago, the communist mouthpiece said there's nothing wrong in China (We all know it's a total BS). But because the problem was so bad, finally they can't lie and told the truth, with a narrative where the communist regime play a hero by solving the problem (which is we all know it was because the communist regime fault and the troublemaker). They were the bad guy and then they played as hero.

The communist government is not only treating minorities so ugly, even to Han Chinese themselves. Several years ago, Confucius school was still being banned. You can imagine what they did to minorities.

One of the major difference between Chinese and Western way of looking at things is Chinese tend to look at things in a holistic and practical/realistic way. China has come a long way in the past 60 years. All indexes in human development index has shown tremendous improvement. I do not have to read government media to know it happen, I can see it by myself.

The secret of China success lies mostly in the resilience of Chinese people/culture. Chinese work hard, they work real damn hard. But without the Communist government that planned and organized the development, it would not be as successful as it did.

China is the most populous country in the world, there are of course problem along the way. China detractor like to take a single problem and extrapolate to the whole country, but Chinese that live through it know the real answer.

The Chinese tradition and culture is not just Confucianism alone. I personally think that the Chinese culture/tradition is not about the superficial tradition/festival/costume/ritual, it is more about the philosophy and the way we think. Millennium years old philosophy would not just go away because of some ephemeral political movement like the cultural revolution.

Communism has it good and bad, the dialectic materialism tends to use the scientific materialistic way of viewing thing and Chinese traditionally use the holistic heaven, earth and man way of viewing thing. The problem with communism is of course man wasn't merely an object, it is hard to use materialistic/physical law and principle to predict the behavior of man. And Chinese culture is on the other end of the spectrum, it is fuzzy and with minimal scientific rigor. It comes from a practical, empirical evolution of one of the most stable and longest running civilization of the world. Both can complement each other, one of the beauty of Chinese culture is to be able to absorb ideas from other culture while keeping the foundation intact, to be able to mix the Ying and the Yang and find the way of the mean.

The Chinese government today is more interested in the practical running of the country than in battle of ideology. When Xi JinPin talks about "China Dream", he wasn't talking about building a communist utopia, it is more inline with Hu JinTao's National rejuvenation. The Chinese government today is a lot more nationalistic than communist. It is normal for any country in the world to have factions with differences in political view, both communist left and democracy right camp exist in China politic today. Both can contribute to the development of China, as is normal in any country in the world today. The important thing is to abide by what unite China for millennium, the spirit of 大一统, and do not fall into the trap of blind faith in any political ideology, China has paid too much for that mistake in the past.

The communism didn't contribute anything. It just a normal side effect of a strong government and stability. It's a universal case. As it happened in Taiwan, HK and everywhere too. During the stable period of Republic of China, our economy grew double digit as well, before US interfered.
