BALI, INDONESIA (Dow Jones)--China has renewed loans to Asean countries and remains committed to the idea of a regional free-trade area, a senior Chinese official said at a regional meeting Saturday.
Speaking at a briefing at the East Asia Summit, Chinese Assistant Foreign Minister Liu Zhenmin said China has renewed loans to Asean member countries worth an additional $10 billion over the coming years, without elaborating.
Liu also said that China would continue to promote the establishment of a "10+3" free-trade area covering the 10 Asean member states, Japan, Korea and China.
