I don't think that is a good comparison as the Qing Dynasty Navy mostly composed of out dated Junk Ships (that's what they were called it's not an insult) that had shields on them for protection along with spears, long guns and inaccurate cannons. While the British Navy had well armed ships with cannons, muskets and better all around protection. Their was to much power disparity, it's like Israeli Navy and Palestinian fisherman in boats fighting each other, and let's not forget the French were also involved in this.
