The maker of the J-20, China's most advanced stealth fighter jet, revealed that it recently broke records in terms of aircraft delivery due to high demand, with experts saying on Sunday that the J-20 has entered a mass production phase after it solved the last missing piece of the puzzle, the domestically developed WS-10 engine.

Since the start of the fourth quarter, Chengdu Aircraft Industrial Group Co Ltd under the state-owned Aviation Industry Corporation of China has been facing challenging research and development, production and delivery missions, as multiple users were waiting to receive delivery of many aircraft, the company said in a statement released over the weekend on its social media account.

In this period, the company completed several key test flight missions, and indexes related to aircraft delivery have broken record highs, the statement said.

Out of nine photos attached to the statement, seven depict test flights of the J-20, one shows a test flight of the J-10, and one shows the work of staff members.

This could be an indication that the production of the J-20 is being ramped up, Fu Qianshao, a Chinese military aviation expert, told the Global Times on Sunday.

The Chinese People's Liberation Army (PLA) Air Force displayed J-20s equipped with domestically developed engines at Airshow China 2021.

The switch to domestically made WS-10 engines from imported ones has made mass production possible, Fu said, noting that other systems on the J-20, including the avionics system, radar system and weapons systems, were already domestically developed.

Now that there is no limitation caused by the import of engines, and the homemade WS-10 engine has been tested on other aircraft like the J-10, J-11 and J-16, the J-20 is in a position to start mass production, Fu said.

Responding to an inquiry from the Global Times concerning the production capacity of the J-20 at a press conference at Airshow China in late September, Wang Haitao, deputy designer of the aircraft, said that China's aviation industry can satisfy any level of demand from the PLA Air Force.

It is good to see the industry is busy, because this means the J-20 has started entering service in large numbers, Fu said.

"In a short time, we will be able to see J-20s operated by all eastern, southern, western, northern and central theater commands, and become the main force to safeguard China's sovereignty and territorial airspace security," Fu predicted.

For the next step, the J-20 will continue to evolve, for example, by switching to use more advanced engines, Fu said

Need to see some independent verification of WS-10 engines! How good they are, MTBF, supercruise. Service life and MTBF would really tell how good the engines are as compared to PW F119, PW F135.

There is no Independent but fabrication and fake news from any so called independent group.

China destroyer and frigate has gone for indian ocean anti piracy program for years and never once has a breakdown but you still see junk or fanboy article claim Chinese engine breaks down easily.

In case you are wondering. Gas turbine are mostly derived from aviation engine and they are equally hard to master and made for any countries.

China should be making 40 to 50 J-20 per years.
They Made 44 airframes for J-20 till 7th dec in calander year 2021. They most likely will make around 60 in 2022. Don't have exact number how many of 44 airframes got converted into Combat aircraft and how many were utilised for further development and testing.

has any institution unbiased towards the US (such as a Chinese or Russian aerospace test lab) inspected PW engines?

if not then how do you know their claimed results are true, especially because 90% of countries that purchase their products don't have the capability to carry out this inspection?

As an aviation nerd, I am interested to know the MTBF, supercruise, service life intervals and total engine lifespan time of these engines.

Folks, this is not a fight about whose opinion is correct but knowing facts.
There are several certifications for commercial airliners and engines but military aviation will be secret. We all know aviation industry started in US/EU. Wright brothers were Americans.
So west has an established history of aviation industry and all types of engines.
This is just a fact and undeniable...but by all means deny.
Russians have a very robust aviation industry and they developed, but US / EU were always ahead. Because of open interaction and a deep tradition of r&d.

Chinese are making progress in turbofan engines and airliners and it is a welcome sign. We just cant blindside ourselves on the basis of race and country, and denial.
There is famous saying of the Messenger Muhammad, ", peace and blessings be upon him, said, “The word of wisdom is the lost property of the believer. Wherever he finds it, he is most deserving of it.”
The word Hikma is mostly incorrectly translated as WISDOM.
Actual meaning of Arabic word Hikmah is "Science/Technology."

So anyone can invent, design, build, most sophisticated products provided they work hard like chinese do and learn from everyone.

So in other words you have no evidence their certification process is superior to anyone else's. That is why Boeing 737 MAX happened.

Because they cut the corner and Boeing high standards culture got compromised after acquiring McDonald Douglass. But they are not brushing under the feet.
Nonetheless 737MAX was a horrible way to compete with A320neo..fixing unbalanced center of gravity and AOA because of bigger engines with a software hack was criminal.
