China ramps up J-20 stealth fighter production after domestic engine switch

Because they cut the corner and Boeing high standards culture got compromised after acquiring McDonald Douglass. But they are not brushing under the feet.
Nonetheless 737MAX was a horrible way to compete with A320neo..fixing unbalanced center of gravity and AOA because of bigger engines with a software hack was criminal.

They did try to brush it under. They failed.

Proof: China CCAA banned it first, but US FAA claimed it was safe.

This is off topic but since you are just acting in childish bias, Boeing shall be paying 2.5 billion in penalties and there are FAA fines too plus civil suits. On the contrary whenever any catastrophe report has been made public, people were allowed to respond in PRC? None.

Wrong again. Companies that kill even 1% as many as Boeing get their CEOs charged and executed as criminal murderers, plus civil lawsuits. Proven by the response to the milk melamine scandal.

3 strikes, you're out.

The Chinese aviation industry is wrapping up the warplane production and test flight work scheduled for 2021 in the last week of the year, with many companies already finishing their missions while others are making their final runs.

Despite challenges including occasional COVID-19 outbreaks, the high quality and quantity of the aircraft will meet the demands of the aviation forces of all Chinese People's Liberation Army (PLA) branches, analysts said on Sunday.

With the last warplane landing on the runway at the test flight station of Shenyang Aircraft Corporation under the state-owned Aviation Industry Corporation of China (AVIC) on December 15, the Shenyang company wrapped up the year's production and test flight missions 16 days before the year ends, and the number of aircraft the company produced and delivered this year broke a record, AVIC revealed in a statement released on its social media account on Friday.

The Shenyang-based company builds the J-15 aircraft carrier-based fighter jet and the J-16 multirole fighter jet. It is also responsible for the development of the FC-31 stealth fighter jet.

A heavily upgraded version of the J-15 was recently revealed by the Shenyang company, and the electronic warfare variant of the J-16, the J-16D, made its debut at the Airshow China 2021 in September.

The AVIC Changhe Aircraft Industry (Group) Corporation Ltd, which produces helicopters including the Z-10 attack helicopter and the Z-8 transport helicopter, also finished production and delivery missions on December 15, AVIC said in the statement.

A photo attached to the statement shows the test flight of a variant of the Z-8, namely the Z-8C, a type of ship-borne transport chopper seen deployed on the PLA Navy's newly commissioned Type 075 amphibious assault ship.

The maker of the Y-20 large transport aircraft, the AVIC Xi'an Aircraft Industry Group Company Ltd, completed the last batch of test flight on Wednesday, nine days before the end of the year, AVIC said.

Tang Changhong, chief designer of the Y-20, revealed at the Airshow China 2021 that the aircraft undertook flight tests with two types of domestically developed engines at the time.

An aerial tanker variant of the Y-20 was also spotted in a drill near the island of Taiwan for the first time in November.

AVIC Harbin Aircraft Industry Group Co Ltd, which makes the Z-20 utility helicopter and the Z-9/19 series helicopter, wrapped up 2021's production and test flight missions on Friday, setting a new record in the number of aircraft delivered despite the negative impact of COVID-19, AVIC announced in the statement.

Known as the maker of the J-20 stealth fighter jet and the J-10 fighter jet, AVIC Chengdu Aircraft Industrial Group Co Ltd revealed on December 10 in a social media post that the company recently broke records in terms of aircraft deliverydue to high demand, and it was striving to wrap up the year 2021.

AVIC Shaanxi Aircraft Industry (Group) Co Ltd, the producer of a wide variety of special mission aircraft including the KJ-500 early warning aircraft and the Y-8 anti-submarine warfare aircraft, is making the final run to complete the annual delivery goal despite the ongoing severe COVID-19 epidemic, the company said on its social media account on Friday.

Other AVIC branches are also on their ways to finish production, and good news will come within days, AVIC said.

At a time when the PLA Army is striving to build a powerful aerial assault force with advanced helicopters, the PLA Navy is preparing vessel-based fixed-wing aircraft and helicopters for its aircraft carriers and amphibious assault ships, and the PLA Air Force is eyeing to further build a strategic force, China's aviation industry is playing an important role by satisfying these high demands, a Beijing-based military expert told the Global Times on Sunday, requesting anonymity.

Need to see some independent verification of WS-10 engines! How good they are, MTBF, supercruise. Service life and MTBF would really tell how good the engines are as compared to PW F119, PW F135.
and other US/Western Power plants.

Nowadays in modern world of the year 2021, "independent" plus something, like independent media, independent consultant, independent organizations, means West (read: Anglo-Saxon) or West-influenced, fake report and poor quality.

We have worked with a lot of so-called independent consultants in various projects in Vietnam with same results. They will report whatever the owners, who pay them, want to hear.

And it would be greatly "independent" if you hire a Western organization (read: Anglo-Saxon) to review a Chinese aeroengines, even if they are not paid by CIA. Driven by racist mind, jealousy and fear, they will report what they want to believe, i.e. China will follow the West forever, not that China is already ahead, that's my own experience working with so-called experts from West and India in Vietnam. Most will spare no chance to bad-mouth China, even in very bizzarre and totally unnecessary occasions.

Do not say that the Chinese engine is better or worse than Western engines for now, I am open to hear your opinions and professional analysis, as I have some experience in gas turbine engine and am interested in this topic.

Well said. For those who are independent from your own country's interest, there is anothr word: traitors.

Here in China there are many independent lawyers, writers, jounalists. All of them are west funded traitors.

Due to the info I gather, the performance and stability of Chinese engine is about or exceed AL31. The main difference is WS-10 probably has a shorter lifespan of 2000 - 3000 hours. In comparison F35 F135 engine is about 8000-9000 hours.

AL31 is about 3000- 4000 hours.

So WS-10 is good enough for China, China is well known for mass producing stuff at rapid pace.

I got no credible source to cite for making above comments.

I am EE and not ME or thermodynamics degree, but just some general knowledge.
Regarding gas turbine, I am not saying someone give a certificate but observation from independent open sources.
I still have doubt on MTBF and service life of chines engines as blade and fan metallurgy is both a science and art and I think chinese have not mastered it. Reverse engineering does not work here.

No cannon on J-20. It's a fire missiles and evac fighter.
That could be a weakness if it ever got to close in fighting, which is always possibly among equally matched aircraft like the J-20 and F-35

Nowadays modern missile are highly mature and due to improve of chips and sensor, can even used at very close range.
Unlike in the era of Vietnam war, where missiles were at their infant stage.

Guns for dogfight can really put into rest. The small opening on the stealthy aircraft body which can contribute to increase in RCS which PLAAF deems not worth the effort to install guns.

it's got 6 missiles with off boresight targeting and those missiles can pull way more Gs then the F-35.
