China Railway Construction Corp wins bid for Pakistan highway

BEIJING: China Railway Construction Corp. said on Wednesday it has secured a 9.38 billion yuan ($1.46 billion) contract jointly with a Pakistani company to build a highway in Pakistan.

The company said that its unit, China Railway 20th Bureau Group Co, and Zahir Khan & Brothers Engineers & Constructors won the bid to build a 1,152 km section of a highway between Karachi and Lahore in Pakistan.

Earlier this year, Pakistan and China signed energy and infrastructure deals worth $46 billion, under the framework of what is called the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor.

As part of the agreements, China will get a free trade zone in Pakistan's Gwadar port and access to the Indian Ocean. New Pakistani roads will also open up routes for Chinese goods into Europe and the Middle East, though details and financing of many of the deals remain unclear.

China and Pakistan call each other "all-weather friends" and share close business, diplomatic and security ties.

These projects are under CPEC Up-gradation of Railways Track From Karachi to Peshawar they gonna invest 3.8 billion Dollars to 5 Billion Dollars making the speed of trains to 160 km/h also there are plans to Connect Karachi with Gwadar via Train in that way Chinese can transport goods to Kashgar way faster then by Road and will help Pakistan Railway too...

Plus there are 3 Corridors Eastern Western and Central (Roads) that will connect in Islamabad and later in Abbotabad which will lead to Karakoram Highway all the way to China.. The Highway They are talking about is i think is Karachi Lahore Motorway

The money will be given back these projects will be on BOT (Build-Operate-Transfer) base

I am not denying what contract says. Given Pakistan financial situation and China is not as generous in writing off the loans (America wrote-off huge loans for Pakistan), thought came across my mind.

This is part of good news. It is high time we stopped talking and start building the trade corridor.One day I look forward to driving on Motorway from Islamabad to Karachi and back.

Metro is Punjab govt's deal with own funds. Sindh govt is busy with more corruption.. they dont care about Karachi.

Islamabad Already has one don't you know ?? But yes it's just one route Route 2 will be build in future...

Lahore has one And Metro Train is under way it's the project of Provincial government Even it's under construction in Multan Pakistan

About Karachi the Provincial Gov is to lazy and dumb that they don't want any metro there are plans but plans are just on paper even Japanese are ready to Invest in Karachi Circular Railway Project but as i said Sindh Gov is To dumb lazy *** *****

Chinese have their Interest in Pakistan Short way/route of moving goods and oil to their country in less time... plus easy Access to Gulf countries that's why they are investing in Pakistan... In Roads and Railways.. Power Projects are on BOT basis as Pakistan needs Energy...
