"A prominent Chinese expert has called upon Moscow and Seoul, which like China have territorial disputes with Tokyo, to form a united anti-Japanese front"

Only possible alliance china can have is with Pakistan and North Korea

I really doubt about the source....Because anyway China is enough powerful to handle the situation alone...Why does he need weaker nations to align with? This looks odd to me..

Ieodo not part of territorial dispute with China: Seoul
Song Sang-ho
The Korea Herald
Publication Date : 13-03-2012

Excerpt:
South Korean President Lee Myung-bak said yesterday that Ieodo, a submerged rock south of Jeju Island, is within South Korea’s jurisdiction, dismissing China’s renewed claim to the economically important maritime area.

But he said that the continuing arguments between Seoul and Beijing over the rock were not a “territorial dispute,” in an apparent show of concern that the issue could undermine bilateral ties as the two mark the 20th anniversary of their diplomatic relations.

“How we manage the waters near Jeju is closely related to South Korea’s economy. Thus (we) cannot help but respond sensitively to this issue,” Lee said during a meeting with the managing editors of major newspapers and broadcasting companies, which was hosted by the Korea News Editors’ Association.

“I want to say that whatever form it may take, Ieodo comes within South Korea’s jurisdiction.”

Noting that the rock is 4.6 metres below sea level, Lee said it cannot be called territory. But in future negotiations with China over the maritime jurisdiction, he said Seoul would be at an advantage given Ieodo’s proximity to South Korea’s coastline.

The rock in question is in the overlapping exclusive economic zone (EEZ) of the two countries. But South Korea says it is within its EEZ, given that it is located 149 kilometres southwest of Korea’s southernmost island of Marado, while China’s nearest island of Yushandao is 287 kilometres away.

Local media reported last weekend that Liu Cigui, the director of China’s State Oceanic Administration, recently said that his administration had established a system to patrol and enforce domestic law over areas of China’s jurisdiction “including Ieodo.”

The issue over Ieodo erupted as Seoul and Beijing grappled over the repatriation of North Korean defectors.

Cautious but firm attitude needed over Suyan Rock dispute with S.Korea
Global Times | 2012-11-14 19:05:04
By Zhao Jianming

Excerpt:
Many territorial issues in East Asia have come to the forefront recently, such as the Diaoyu Islands dispute between China and Japan, the spat of Dokdo, known as Takeshima in Japan, between Japan and South Korea, and the South Kuril Islands dispute, also known as the Northern Territories dispute, between Russia and Japan. Compared to these, the issue of Suyan Rock, disputed between China and South Korea, is relatively uncovered, but still not unimportant.

Suyan Rock is located in a disputed exclusive economic zone that both China and South Korea have declared sovereignty over. South Korea calls Suyan Rock Ieodo or Parangdo. It has long declared that Suyan Rock is located within its exclusive economic zone. The reef of the rock is on the Korean section of the continental shelf. According to South Korea, Suyan Rock is much closer to the Korean Mara Island than China's Haijiao, also known as Tong Island.

Also, from the perspective of international law, South Korea contends that it was first to explore the Rock and has long effectively administered it.

In 1951, South Korea installed plaque on the Suyan Rock and named it Ieodo. In 1987, it built navigational buoys there. From 1995 to 2003, South Korea constructed the Ieodo Ocean Research Station, and equipped it with a heliport and dock.

You dont know your own history. Russia and china had disputes over Yinlong Island (Tarabarov in Russia) and half of the Heixiazi Island (Bolshoi Ussuriysky) at the confluence the of Amur and Ussuri rivers. In the 1960s and 1970s, clashes over the islands brought the former Soviet Union and China to the brink of war.

now who is idiot ??

In my view, you are the one.

He said clearly:

Then you came along and talking about a conflict in the 60s and 70s.

How is that relevant today?

Lack of knowledge on the subject should means one should stay out of the Topic but Not you you had to jump in and make a complete fool out of your self but the best is getting thanked for being Dumb makes the geniuses that thanked you come across as bigger idiots then You.

1839, the British pounced on prostrate China, waging two opium wars that caused tens of millions to become drug addicts. Britain seized Hong Kong. France, Russia, and Japan fed like wolves on helpless China. Many of the greatest fortunes in today’s Britain were based on the narcotics trade.

In 1850, a farmer launched the frightful Taiping Rebellion that in 14 years led to 20 million deaths. In 1894, Japan seized Korea and Taiwan from China and humiliated the Imperial armies and fleets.

China’s calamitous 19th century engendered the even more bloody 20th century: 1920’s civil wars; the Japanese invasion of 1937; a fight to the death between Mao’s Communist and the Nationalists of Chiang Kai-shek. In 1958, Mao’s Great Leap Forward, a crazy attempt to modernize the economy, wrecked China and caused 30-60 million peasants to starve. Mao’s equally daft Cultural Revolution almost finished off China.
Seen in the retrospective of this grim history, China’s rise to become the world’s second most important power is even more miraculous.

Japan can not really do anything without the US. Since the fall of the warsaw pact the world we have been living in a unipolar world at the whim of united states. I do not see a tripartite united stance by china, Russia and s korea as the latter is firmly in US camp. but a Russia china united position can change the current unipolarity for the better....
Then again it can be damaging as well like we are seeing in Syria.

But purely to deal with Japan as time passes and china becomes stronger it is unlikely to need anyone...

.
Actually, to ask this question, why will there be a front against the Japanese?

No doubt, if China were to engage Economic war or Actual war with Japan, Japan is going to lose with or without an alliance, the problem is, who will gain the most for just some border bickering between Japan and China??

When you know the answer to that question, you know why China do not even need a front against Japan.

Panlilio said in a chance interview these companies have been part of the 300 Japanese companies shortlisted by his department for possible relocation here.
