My input on China's current swap is that this is a natural outcome of world economy. China is the largest trading nation in the world so its currency is the natural trading currency in the world. I believe no economists would argue against that. Different from her western peer, China is exporting "economy" rather than the old approach of exporting industrial products and importing raw materials.

If you look at China's business in Africa you will find China is building a NEW AFRICA from SA to Egypt and the British media jealously called this as the New Colonism. And the amazing fact is the Africans welcome China's New Colonism, a rebuild of a whole new Africa. The west has never think about to escalate Africa from sub-civilization to modern state. This is such a sarcasim as the are calling for humanity, civil right from Day One. As I said earlier, some Chinese firms such as Huawei are really the hero of human civilization, to build the most advance telecommuniation network in the most remote cornor of the world. Has any western firm done that before? Nay.

Now we talk about the facts. China is not "clever" as someone claims. It's rather "Smart". China has to feed billions of people at home and Africa provide huge job oppos for this over populated nation, as well as over capacity of manufacture. On the other hand, the west simply Lacks the resources to offer equivelant effort. There's no Americans willing to serve Africans in adversely severe working conditions. There's no American firms willing to take risks in Africa. They just want easy and comfortable money still missing those old days of exploiting Africa by the least efforts or risks. And those days are gone.

World tomorrow will be even and nothing as Obama said he cannot imagine billions of Indians and Chinese and other developing nations enjoy the same walfare as Americans enjoy.

China is now a capital exporter and has a market that is bigger than the US in goods consumption. This means the US will lose its influence big time as other countries have more options. China has also been providing technology to the world it is self-sufficient in, which means the US will lose more influence in that area too.

US needs to have a monopoly on markets, investment, financing and technology. As countries like China has large market for countries to sell into (goods, services, energy, metals, agriculture), Chinese companies invest globally, Chinese government and banks provides loans to anyone, countries and companies can access Chinese capital markets for financing and China exports advanced technology, the US will find its dominant position weaken SIGNIFICANTLY over the coming years and its sanctions becomes highly ineffective.

China is one country that can completely dismantle and American web of power by ending the monopoly positions America holds. Once those monopolies are gone, American power will diminish.

I must laugh about this article. China offers Russia nothing but empty words and diplomacy. If you ahve friends like this, you need no enemy. But i must admit China plays its game nice. Using russias weakness to make it its bitch.

As I tend to say, these things are really more of a defensive measure. China is still under an arms embargo from the USA, as well as a Chinese-exclusion policy from NASA.

@LeveragedBuyout asserts that America is very unlikely to lay down economic sanctions against China, due to how interdependent our economies are, and I tend to agree. But IF we are wrong about that, we could end up suffering enormously, so we must take steps to protect ourselves.

Increasing the influence of the Yuan, and setting up the AIIB and the BRICS bank are key aspects of this strategy.

Look at China's voting share in the IMF for example, despite being the largest trading nation in the world, we have a smaller share than France, UK, Germany, Japan, and America. We have asked for a greater share, not as much as America or Japan or Germany, but it still gets blocked at every turn. We were left with no other options but to pursue this path.

It's for our own protection, and I do not feel it will negatively impact significantly on the countries that currently dominate the IMF and other Bretton Woods institutions, to have a competitor in loaning money to the developing world. In fact I think it is something we could all benefit from.

Excuse me sir, no problem with china but the last thing i would want is that China has the same voting power as germany, france, uk, japan or USA. Why? Simply because China cares only about itself and would simply block evry loan wish from any western country. China can build up its own system if it wishs and i´m fine with this but it should be divided as you said. After all i could not imagine that China would help the EU for example.

So far we see no stability in russian market. Its still crashing. Their own economy ministry says they will face up to 5% recession. China should stay out of this war zone. It is itself a pretty easy target. China knows this and acts wise. Giving russia some empty words and diplomatic flower powers sentences and thats it.
