Pak-China universities started online training program in surface mining​

THARPARKAR, Apr. 29, (Gwadar Pro)- Lanzhou Resources and Environment VOC-TECH University of China and Government Polytechnic Institute Mithi, Tharparkar Pakistan will hold a joint mining training program.
The online program will train 300 students from rural and urban Sindh (GPI MIthi and Aligarh Institute of Technology) in surface mining, geology mining, transportation mining, safety, and environmental protection.
The training program will utilize both Online live lectures and learning resources made available to students through Beijing Tang Chinese Education & Technology Ltd's Cloud Eco System.

China has been providing skill training to Pakistani youth under CPEC. As part of this initiative, China has established vocational training centers in various parts of Pakistan to provide training in a range of technical and vocational fields, such as construction, manufacturing, agriculture, and hospitality.
The aim of this program is to provide Pakistani youth with the necessary skills to participate in CPEC projects and other related industries, which will in turn contribute to the economic development of both countries.
The training programs are designed to meet the specific needs of the Pakistani market and provide practical training that can be applied in real-life work situations.
The initiative has been welcomed by the Pakistani government, as it is expected to create employment opportunities for the country's growing youth population and contribute to the overall economic development of the country.

SARGODHA, May 15 (Gwadar Pro) - University of Sargodha, Pakistan and South China Agriculture University, China signed an agreement to share experiences in educational on May 14.

The agreement was signed by Sargodha University Vice Chancellor Professor Qaiser Abbas and South China Agriculture University President Li Yang.

According to the agreement, the two universities will promote mutual cooperation in education, research, teaching, training, capacity building and other fields. There will be mutual exchange of faculty, students, researchers, experts and other technical staff.

The agreement further said that fellowships will also be issued for young researchers and post-doctoral students of both universities.

Apart from this, the two universities would take steps to establish a joint agricultural research institute, the Sargodha University announced.

On the occasion of the 72nd anniversary of diplomatic relations between Pakistan and China, and the 10th anniversary of the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI), China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), a delegation from China Road and Bridge Corporation (CRBC) visited the Abbottabad University of Science and Technology (AUST) Havelian.

The delegation handed over the building of the Chinese camp at Hazara Motorway to the AUST. The delegation was led by Deputy General Manager CRBC Pakistan Liu Chong. General Project Manager Wang Hui.

University of Education in Lahore launches smart classroom project under CPEC​

The Smart Classroom project, part of the CPEC, has been launched at the University of Education in Lahore.

This initiative falls under the broader framework of ‘Smart Universities: Transformation through Smart Classrooms’ in the CPEC. The project aims to strengthen online and distance learning in Pakistan’s higher education sector, addressing issues such as quality faculty shortage, student-teacher interaction, and education standards.

The Vice Chancellor, Dr. Talat Naseer Pasha, highlighted the significance of the project and inaugurated a training workshop in collaboration with the Higher Education Commission (HEC) and Huawei, aimed at equipping faculty and IT staff with skills to effectively utilize smart classroom technologies. Dr. Talat expressed gratitude towards the Chinese government and Huawei for their support in bringing this project to fruition.

CPJRC, GIKI to collaborate in earth, engineering sciences​

ISLAMABAD, The China-Pakistan Joint Research Centre on Earth Sciences (CPJRC), China and the Ghulam Ishaq Khan Institute (GIKI) of Engineering Sciences and Technology signed an MoU on Sep. 7 to enhance collaborative efforts in earth and engineering sciences.

The agreement was executed by Dr. CUI Peng, Director CPJRC, and Dr. Fazal Ahmad Khalid, Rector GIKI, during an event held at the GIK Institute.

CPJRC, which operates under the China Academy of Science (CAS)’s Institute of Mountain Hazards and Environment, is dedicated to fostering cooperation in earth sciences. GIKI is a prestigious engineering institution in Swabi district of KP province.

The Rector GIKI said that the MoU provides a framework for both institutions to engage in joint research endeavours; secure research funding, and co-organize technical training programs, academic symposia, and international conferences.

Dr. CUI Peng underscored that this cooperative endeavour will centre its efforts on critical areas such as disaster prevention and mitigation, ecological economy with an emphasis on low carbon development, assessing resource and environment carrying capacity for regional sustainable development, as well as endeavours related to climate change mitigation and adaptation.

Chinese college launches e-commerce short course at Karachi institute​

ISLAMABAD- China’s Zhejiang Financial College (ZFC) on Monday launched an e-commerce short course at Aligarh Institute of Technology, Karachi.

The two educational institutions first signed a Memorandum of Understanding during an online meeting after which the short course was formally launched with an introductory 3-class hour lecture. The short course consists of 12-class hours, starting from September 12.

Students attending the course will receive certificate from ZFC. The two institutions will discuss further collaboration based on the outcomes of the short course.

The MoU was facilitated by TANG Int’l Education Group. President TANG Int’l Li Jinsong said that vocational education acts as a significant driving force for a society’s economic transformation and upgrading. “China-Pakistan vocational education cooperation has been highly valued by the two countries. We firmly believe that through the joint efforts, we will ensure the smooth running of China-Pakistan vocational skills training cooperation, cultivating international talents who adapt to the development of the times, and helping China-Pakistan international education cooperation make new progress and achievements,” Li said.

Pakistan values Chinese cooperation in education, research: PM

BEIJING: Caretaker Prime Minister Anwaar-ul-Haq Kakar on Tuesday said Pakistan valued its cooperation with China in the field of education and research.

The prime minister expressed these views in a meeting with Ren Libo, President of the Grandview Institution, held in Beijing.

PM Kakar, who is in China to attend the Belt and Road Forum, said collaboration with the Chinese institutions in the field of education could help the country attain its goals. He termed China a close friend of Pakistan which supported it at all difficult times.

In his post on social media platform X, Kakar said, “We discussed shared goals and vision for the future. Grateful for his useful input and looking forward to further strengthening the fraternal bond between Pakistan and China.”

Pak-China alliance to combat soil heavy metal pollution​

ISLAMABAD -A delegation of Chinese experts from the Zhejiang Institute of Geosciences, Zhejiang University, and Zhejiang Academy of Agricultural Sciences visited Pakistan from October 10th to 17th. The visit aimed to promote the Pak-China joint research project on heavy metal tracing in cadmium-polluted rice fields and rice safety production technology.

The project aims to address the issue of heavy metal pollution in agricultural soil with China's research findings and remediation experience to reduce pollution sources and control associated risks. Innovative products such as soil conditioners and foliar inhibitors are also planned to be introduced to Pakistan.

During the visit, the delegation engaged in discussions and exchanges with prominent Pakistani institutions, including the National Agricultural Research Center(NARC) and universities. They also participated an academic seminar on the prevention and control of soil heavy metals, where Dr.Lu Xinzhe from Zhejiang Institute of Geosciences delivered a presentation on the sources and risk assessment of soil heavy metals.

The visit strengthened the implementation of the Pak-China joint research project, facilitating knowledge exchange and data collection. It marked a significant step towards achieving the project's goals of improving soil quality, enhancing rice safety, and promoting the application of relevant technologies and products in Pakistan.

Foundation stone laid for Pakistan-China Joint Research Centre in Earth Sciences at Quaid-e-Azam University​

ISAMABAD - The foundation stone for the Pakistan-China Joint Research Centre in Earth Sciences was laid at Quaid-e-Azam University (QAU) on Wednesday afternoon (October 25). This centre will serve as a hub for research focused on the three major mountain ranges in Pakistan: the Himalayas, Hindu Kush, and Karakoram.

The Government of Pakistan pledged Rs 7 billion for construction of the research centre, while the Chinese government committed an equal amount for equipment and other necessities.

This research centre will play a pivotal role in studying the top three mountain ranges within the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) route, with Chinese and Pakistani scientists collaborating on various research initiatives.

China-Pak air quality monitoring system to be held in Lahore against smog​

LAHORE, -China and Pakistan on Wednesday afternoon agreed to establish an air quality monitoring system in Lahore in partnership with a Chinese company to fight smog.
Chinese Consul General Zhao Shiren met Caretaker Punjab Chief Minister Mohsin Naqvi here to discuss various important matters, with a focus on potential cooperation against smog.

Both sides agreed to seek assistance from the Beijing Academy of Science and Technology to address the issue of smog. They also decided to collaborate on establishing an air quality monitoring system in Lahore in partnership with a Chinese company, a statement released by the Punjab Chief Minister's office said.

They emphasized the need for immediate contact and communication between environmental experts from Punjab and China. Caretaker Punjab Chief Minister Naqvi expressed the government's strong interest in obtaining technical assistance and acquiring modern equipment from China to effectively combat smog.
