China mulling 'small scale military ops' against India: Media :

China is planning a "small scale military operation" to "expel" Indian troops from the Doklam area "within two weeks", an article in a state-run daily said today.

India and China have been locked in a prolonged standoff in the area in the Sikkim sector since June 16 after Chinese troops began constructing a road near the Bhutan trijunction.

Bhutan has protested to China, saying the area belonged to it and accused Beijing of violating agreements that aim to maintain the status quo until the boundary dispute is resolved.

India says the Chinese action to construct the road was unilateral and changes the status quo. It fears the road would allow China to cut off India's access to its northeastern states.

"China will not allow the military standoff between China and India in Doklam to last for too long, and there may be a small-scale military operation to expel Indian troops within two weeks," Hu Zhiyong, a research fellow at the Institute of International Relations at the Shanghai Academy of Social Sciences was quoted by the Global Times.

The "expert" wrote in the daily that the "Chinese side will inform the Indian foreign ministry before its operation."

To peacefully resolve the impasse, India's External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj has said that both the sides should first pull back their troops and hold dialogue.

Swaraj on Thursday again asserted that war cannot resolve anything. She said India was engaged with China to resolve differences and advocated patience.

IF this researcher is credible and is gleaning his information from authoritative sources, then it goes to show how much Beijing wishes to avoid a military conflict. At this rate, the Chinese will likely issue an ultimatum in two weeks' time while gradually stepping up both diplomatic efforts and warnings.

Interesting but tense times ahead.

I think China trying to establish itself as a super power will try to assert itself by starting a localized military ops in Doklam. India should be ready with its own military mobilization to take on China.

India wants war.

China is under the delusion that they are the ones getting ready for war.
In fact it's India which has planned this meticulously to destroy Chinese reputation and restrict them to other side of SCS.
The best way to get rid of 50 billion dollar trade deficit is forcing China to attack India.

In the end India will not only kick some commie butt but also destroy the Chinese business in India.

Your Xi has no b@lls Comrade.
He knows what will happen to him if he tries to poke. Pop will go your projects in CPEC. ;)

Xi is in precarious position. He wants the world to take China as the next big thing, and opposition to it from India will dent his position in CPC, and of China as the next superpower. At the same time enmity with India means he very well can say good bye to his BRI project. Hence a localized military conflict cannot be ruled out.

Whatever....India China relations are going to deteriorate further with India forming more closer military relations with US, Japan and Australia, while China using Pakistan as its proxy to dent India's rise.

It's all well planned by Modi & Doval.

Modi may be the face but the real master of the plan is Doval.

Xi has cornered himself and I fear he will end up getting quartered in Tiananmen Square pretty soon.

How is China avoiding a war being an aggressor first?

By initiating a war, China is, au contrario, a valiant nation which wants to push back Indian by use of force, something that is lacking from Indian side who reduced its soldier strength from Doklam and is now advocating for diplomacy:

Engaging with China diplomatically to find a solution: India on Doklam standoff

A coward nation would not start a war.

Xi underestimated India...and now paying the price. But don't expect him to keep quite. India should be ready for any eventuality. Diplomatic solution is what is required between India and China with both forces withdrawing simultaneously...war should be the last resort.

Supa powa India. I want to see how well Indian fare against China? :enjoy:

Go ahead and ban Chinese product. As if India are rich enough to buy western or Swiss quality? Without Chinese product, India economy can never progress becos large number of project will stall due to high cost. :enjoy:

While India is not even China top 10 trading partner. Even a small country like South Korea is more important to China trade than India when comes to trade. :enjoy:

Look at the chart and see where China tank interns of trade with India.
