China is planning 'necessary' retaliation measures to punish the American politicians who vow to hold Beijing responsible for the coronavirus outbreak, according to Chinese state media.

The punitive penalties will also be given to Missouri and 'other US individuals and entities' that have sued China over its perceived mishandling of the health crisis, reported the Global Times citing insiders.

The news came after US President Donald Trump billed COVID-19 as 'the Plague from China' in a tweet that's bound to draw ire from Beijing.

The Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs declined to comment on Beijing's reported reprisal plan against Washington.

The pandemic has claimed more than 297,000 lives and infected over 4.3 million worldwide after first emerging in the Chinese city of Wuhan in December.

The United States has been the country worst-hit by the coronavirus, with a death toll of more than 84,000.

Missouri filed a lawsuit against China last month, accusing it of 'lying to the world about the danger and contagious nature of COVID-19'. Mississippi said a day later it was also preparing to sue Beijing for similar reasons.

Sources told the Global Times that China 'is extremely dissatisfied' about those lawsuits.

Beijing's officials allegedly deem these cases as 'vexatious litigation', a legal term that means the proceedings started with malice and without a good cause.

One expert told the state-run outlet that China 'must beat him hard' as he commented on the 'countermeasures'. The paper did not specify who 'he' is.

The sources did not reveal what retaliation China is planning.

Zhao Lijian, a spokesperson from the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs, said he did not have comments on the reported retaliatory plan after being asked about it at a press briefing today.

But the official blasted 'some American people' for trying to hold China accountable for the pandemic.

He claimed that those people were laying their faults at other people's door and shirking their responsibilities.

Zhao did not name specific names.

He added: 'The Chinese side urges the US to stop its slander and smearing against China, stop reviewing and pushing forward relevant anti-China motions, curb the vexatious litigation behaviour targeting China, and spend its energy on tackling the epidemic and safeguarding the life safety of American people.

'Such blame games from the US side are too dull and laughable. Please stop.'

Political tensions between China and the US have erupted in the past few months as the two nations condemn each other's handling of the coronavirus outbreak.

The US accuses China of covering up the initial epidemic, hiding the virus's origin and taking advantage of the crisis to push its territorial ambitions.

China accuses the US of carrying out 'smear campaigns' and avoiding its responsibilities in containing the disease. Zhao, the spokesperson of China's foreign ministry, has suggested that the virus was planted in Wuhan by the US troops.

The US state of Missouri last month claimed that China's officials were to blame for the devastating crisis that is sweeping the world.

The lawsuit, filed in the US District Court for Eastern Missouri on April 21, alleged that Chinese officials were 'responsible for the enormous death, suffering, and economic losses they inflicted on the world, including Missourians'.

'The Chinese government lied to the world about the danger and contagious nature of COVID-19, silenced whistleblowers, and did little to stop the spread of the disease,' Republican Attorney General Eric Schmitt's office said in a written statement.

'They must be held accountable for their actions.'

The state of Mississippi was preparing a similar suit to 'hold the Communist nation accountable for the malicious and dangerous acts that caused death, health injuries, and serious economic loss from the COVID-19 crisis'.

'Too many Mississippians have suffered as a result of China's cover-up,' said Attorney General Lynn Fitch in a statement.

'They must not be allowed to act with impunity. Mississippians deserve justice and I will seek that in court.'

Beijing slammed the Missouri lawsuit as 'ridiculous' and 'malicious'. The Global Times called the US 'a hooligan' after the two states took legal actions.

In his latest tweet, Trump referred to the novel coronavirus as 'the Plague from China'.

He wrote on Wednesday: 'As I have said for a long time, dealing with China is a very expensive thing to do.

'We just made a great Trade Deal, the ink was barely dry, and the World was hit by the Plague from China.

'100 Trade Deals wouldn't make up the difference - and all those innocent lives lost!'

The plague, caused by the bacterium Yersinia pestis, was the cause of some of the world's deadliest pandemics, including the Justinian Plague, the Black Death, and the major epidemics that swept through China in the late 1800s.

Trump has previously called the virus the 'Chinese virus' multiple times before steering away from the term.

The US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo has referred to the virus the 'Wuhan virus' after the city in China where it was first detected.

The World Health Organization and others have cautioned against giving the virus a geographic name because of its global nature.

Critics have said that such terms foster discriminatory sentiments and behaviour against Asians and Asian Americans.

- Dont you think if china could do anything they could've gotten the CFO of Huaweii out of US
- they could've had their place standing in terms of the 5G wars
- China could've stood its ground in the trade-war and not agreed to have equal exports to cover the US-China trade deficit (phase 1)

I doubt anything will happen. US Courts have no soverignty over china to impose its law. The most they could do is take it to the international court but federal government doesn't have time for that non-sense

the reality what most people dont understand is even though you have a stupid-*** administration in the white house. People who run the bulk of the US institution are not chosen by votes but by filtering to hire the most qualified person to head that institution. so even though you may have a bad administration usually the instituitions can weather it out

Check the trade deficit first.
The one buying has options and power,

CCP really is being led by a bunch of morons, they still don't understand what they have done.
And since they get away bullying Chinese people, they think they can do the same to other countries as well.

Hi,

If the chinese ships don't arrive in the ports soon---the condition would be dire for everyone everywhere---be it the USA or it be Europe---.

Hi,

Sir I don't think that you understand the severity of the situation---. I don't think that americans understand what a virus is---what it does---and what is coming in the future---.

Right now this nation is clueless---. Yesterday---the white part of this nation was stocking on canned food and water and survival gear and guns and emergency rations etc etc etc is screaming like mad men for barely a 1 month of 'stay at home' order---.

The stupidity & the level of illiteracy of this nation is so unbelievable that it is beyond shocking---the white men have come out to face the Corona with their AR-15 strapped around their chest for ready action---.

They have yet to see the monstrosity of COVID19---this is just a trailer.

As for civil service will make things better with china---. You again are out of touch---. The chinese have crossed that threshold of waving away the constant american hatred of looking down at weaker nations---. Now they clearly understand that their weak and meek attitude is not to get them anywhere---. The US has bullied china a little too much---.

1- We understand what a virus. we discovered what a virus is. we created the most vaccines of different viruses. were the only nation who eradicated small pox virus from the earth

2- what you see in media is not a reflection of what a population. the less educated portion of your country population thinks this virus is a hoax. if i were to go to a "dehat" they wouldnt even know what a virus is. such population exist in all countries. half of them who misinterpreted the rligious books thinks this virus will go by the 18th may

3- my point of institutions was not that those agencys will have a good relation with china.US agencies dont care about china. it is said in the context that even if the administrations make poor decision that can cost the country the institutions can weather it. for example, US spend $2 trillion on war in Afghanistan which is obivously a poor decision. but US was able to get its economy back and running. No nation as of now can bear an expense of $2 trillion and can weather it out alive

- Another example when we were not doing testing it was a poor decision by the administration but when administration came to realize we need to do testing. US tested more people in 8 Days than south korea tested in 2 months (US tested around $400k vs 350K korea)

CCP bullied the Chinese people by lifting all out of poverty and became the fastest developing nation in the whole human history, what did Indian government do for the Indian people?

Hi,

You may have discovered what you have---and that is well and good---. But as an american---general citizen---you have no clue what a virus disease is---the severity of the disease---because the genarl american and even american doctors are clueless to what it is---.

Why---

Because american doctors don't know sh-it about highly contageous communicable airborne diseases---because they don't see them in their patients---and as they don't know much about these diseases---the public knows diddley---. I have seen american clinic's waiting room full with patients and ceiling fans on---spreading the diseases---.

In pakistan---the pakistani Dehatis are a more cautious people than city people---and I know this because I from a dehati background---.

Now if you tell me that the americans have better killing machines than anyone else---absolutely---that is 110% believable---.

But confronting COVID 19 in a pro-active and intelligent manner---absolutely 110% not---.

:rofl: Very funny. But what about the 80% who have immunity? We know 20% will need treatment, 10% will end up in ICU and 5 % will die. Surely they should be focusing on the 20% who are vulnerable?

You may have discovered what you have---and that is well and good---. But as an american---general citizen---you have no clue what a virus disease is---the severity of the disease---because the genarl american and even american doctors are clueless to what it is---.

So, yes if we discovered it, created vaccines for it, eradicated a whole species we know more than a third world country that ahs an abysmal healthcare system

Understand something. everyone is clueless when a new virus originates. i am a microbiolgy/economics major. and the level of equipment that US has no one does. when something new arrives everyone is clueless unless the microorganism infects people and shows what it can do. when it arrived in china, china made the mistake of thinking we can contain it, its just like the SARS virus but eventually they were wrong too because againt hey thought they knew everything

and again i wont generalize like you and say the whole chinese population doesnt know what the virus. which tells me your level of intelligence that you cannot differentiate between generalizing and something that is prevelant

Why---

Because american doctors don't know sh-it about highly contageous communicable airborne diseases---because they don't see them in their patients---and as they don't know much about these diseases---the public knows diddley---. I have seen american clinic's waiting room full with patients and ceiling fans on---spreading the diseases---.

Yes we do. we know more about microorganism disease than any comparably doctor you know why? because america is a microcosm we have to know what specifics disease only gets infected in african population, what specific only infects middle eastern. what specific only infects Chinese/Koreans etc. because chances are were gona get patients from all backgrounds

If doctors were any good in 3rd world countries this virus wouldve never spread like it did

Now if i tell you that
- we have the most noble prizes
- most universities in the top 100 universities
- publish most research
- lead in technology, space, medicine
- have the biggest economy

we probably know what were doing. Again i reiterate my point that all of that is not because of the administration but the underlying institutions

and you know what the irony is? most bacterial mutations are caused by 3rd world countries like china, pakistan, india etc. because you dont have any restrictions on prescribing antibiotics and everyone takes it like its free candies until the bacteria mutates and the medicine doesnt work. which then causes us headache because we have to research and come out with a better one
