Then you cannot say we are Chinese. Chinese is Chinese, you are you. Sure we came from the same branch, but that doesn't mean we are the same people. At present, US have managed to cripple Russia economically through heavy sanctions and devaluation of oil. Russia cannot do much with its economy in tatters. On the other hand, US have the military capability to unilaterally contain China, should the need arise.

However, US is unlikely to go to extreme lengths to contain China [for other countries] without a significant cause. For example, if China invades Taiwan then such an aggressive maneuver will motivate US to become proactive in the region and contain China through the use of excessive force. However, China is not giving US such an excuse anytime soon.

Vietnam's per capital GDP is $2052 in 2015 and it is just a little better than Indian, and it's roughly 1/4 of China's.
