One-on-one, realistically speaking, India is no match for China. The Chinese will out-manouvre us on all fronts. However, one has to see things in the right context.

The reason all these recent issues - South China Sea, North Korea, border standoff are happening is that there is an assumption that the American response will be chaotic at best. Let us not pretend otherwise - US is the world hegemon. All major theatres are sensitive to the American response. But ever since the orange-haired orangutan has come to the White House, no one really knows what is happening anymore.

The Chinese see his actions as indicative that the US is withdrawing from its leadership position, so they are asserting themselves. I think that this will prove to be a historical blunder - they are acting too soon and playing their hand before they are ready. All the recent news is about Chinese belligerence on one front or the other. I think the Peaceful Rise phase has been discarded too soon.
