India and China are joining hands in WTO on US tariffs on Steel and Aluminium.

Sanctions can take many faces. US is putting restrictions on H1 visas which are mostly used by Indian IT companies. Fees on H1 visas have been increased many fold. Spouses of H1 visa holders are not allowed to work even though they are highly educated and can contribute immensely to US economy. India sends thousands of students to US for higher studies

Mr. Trump wants India to cut its trade surplus of $30 billion by importing oil and buy its aircrafts and drones. India has already increased more imports from US to a tune of $4 billion . South Korea has followed suit by importing more stuff from US.

No point in having a trade spat with US which is the biggest consumer in the world.

China can afford to have a spat because of leverage it can exert (by financing US debt) but I don't think it can afford an all out trade war. Neither can US but it can stop the gravy train of trade surpluses which are inimical to their economic welfare.
