its supply demand, you have less rag pickers .. unfortunately we have more. so its cheaper here.
but the living costs of the same rag pickers is more in china. however overall the chinese ragpicker would lead a better life, but the indian rag picker will know that life can change for him

developing countries lack strong labor laws. its a fact of life, you being a chinese should know this already.
the poor of both countries have had to deal with tough situations, something that you and I cant even fathom.
so lets not use them for cheap shots at each other.

they are freelance , dont belong to companies.. they collect what they can and deposit them in an area where they are paid based on what they collect. So you konw, it may just be that chinese ragpickers are overpaid for the work they do?
CNN is running a program on ecoCities - road to durban nowadays. in that Mumbai is one of the more efficient cities on waste recycling due to these guys.
