China donates additional US $ 30 million in kind for Pakistan flood victims​

ISLAMABAD, Sep 6 (APP): Liu Jian, Ambassador of China to Pakistan called on Prime Minister Syed Yusuf Raza Gilani on Monday to convey the message of Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao that Chinese Government will immediately provide an additional assistance of 200 million RMB (equivalent to US $ 30 million) in kind, to supplement the flood relief efforts of the Government of Pakistan.China has already committed relief assistance worth of $ 20 million for the Pakistan’s flood victims in the past weeks and this additional contribution will raise the total of its assistance to $ 50 million, said a press release issued by the PM Media Office.


The Chinese Ambassador also apprised the Prime Minister that while a field hospital manned by 55 male and female doctors from his country was already operational in Sindh, another hospital, to be mostly manned by the female doctors of Peoples Liberation Army, will reach Pakistan in next few days time.



Besides, the Chinese Government has also decided to dispatch more army helicopters to Pakistan to take part in rescue and relief efforts.
The Ambassador also pointed out that cash donations of $ 310,000 from only two Chinese entrepreneurs (a businessman and woman) were deposited into Prime Minister’s Relief Fund Account operated by Pakistan Embassy in Beijing, earlier today, and thus the total of Chinese peoples and private sector’s donations to Prime Minister’s Relief Fund had now exceeded $ 1 million mark.


He said that the provincial and local Governments in China had also been mobilized to contribute directly in cash and in relief goods assistance to help the Pakistani flood victims.


The Chinese Ambassador underscored that the assistance announced, so far by the Government of China (including that of today), was only for the immediate rescue and relief activities.
He said, he has been directed to assure the Prime Minister that the Chinese Government will also steadfastly standby Pakistan during the rehabilitation and reconstruction phases by making substantial additional contributions in the future.


The Chinese Ambassador enquired from the Prime Minister about Pakistan’s immediate needs in the relief activities.


The Prime Minister told him that tents were the foremost need of the hour to provide temporary shelter to the affected people. The Chinese Ambassador informed him that 10,000 tents would be supplied to Pakistan through ten chartered flights in next few days time.
The Prime Minister asked the Chinese Ambassador to convey his personal as well as of people and Government of Pakistan’s profound gratitude to the Chinese President and Premier for their expression of solidarity, support and assistance for the victims of the ongoing natural disaster in Pakistan.


He said it was particularly gratifying to note that while around one hundred million people of China, themselves, have been affected by unprecedented floods in their country yet the Chinese Government and people had not forgotten their friends in distress, in Pakistan.
Meanwhile, a press release issued by the Chinese Embassy here on Monday said the Chinese government has decided to provide to the Pakistani government an additional RMB 200 million in humanitarian assistance to express goodwill and friendship of the Chinese government and people towards the Pakistani government and people and to support the brotherly country’s rescue and relief efforts in the aftermath of the mega floods.


Chinese Ambassador Liu Jian called on Prime Minister Syed Yusuf Raza Gilani on Monday and informed him about the decision of the Chinese government, the press release added.
The new pledge brings total Chinese Government’s assistance to RMB 330 million (approximately $ 50 million). China offered RMB 130 million emergency humanitarian assistance to Pakistan earlier and most of it has been delivered.
China also sent a 55-member medical team to the worst-hit district Thatta in Sindh province where it has set up a field hospital and provided treatment to more than 5,000 flood victims.

and Indians were saying China wont donate more!This does not include private donation by Chinese Companies who have donated more then 1000 tons of Rice.Even in 2005 Earthquake Initially China was slow but later on donated a lot and was in top 3 donors list.

Don't drag India into everything, BTW a Indian has started this thread.

Also, India is not getting any publicity or benefit by giving aid to pakistan on the other hand hafeez saeed is holding meetings to propagate that India is behind floods. On the other hand china is using pakistan or getting what they want.

So plz, don't derail the thread.
