China is developing a new wheeled self-propelled assault gun based o 8×8 chassis. The demonstrator of new self-propelled assault gun was spotted during the transportation.

The main role of this fire support vehicle is to support infantry with its firepower. It can engage enemy armor, buildings, field fortifications and other targets. Sometimes such vehicles are classified as assault guns or tank destroyers.

According to open sources, the new Chinese wheeled self-propelled assault gun is armed with a new 125mm cannon. This multipurpose cannon reportedly has a muzzle velocity of 2,000m per second for armored piercing fin stabilized discarding sabot (APFSDS) rounds.

This multipurpose cannon reportedly has a muzzle velocity of 2,000m per second for armored piercing fin stabilized discarding sabot (APFSDS) rounds, whose discarding sabot concentrates the kinetic energy from propellant into frontal area of the penetrator rod, which is the size of a half dollar coin.

Sorry for my ignorant of military weapons name. What is the name of this vehicle?
Its the ST-1 variant of the ZBL-09 8x8 APC. The export variant is called VN-1 (e.g. Venezuela).
There are 2 assault gun variants with 105mm gun:
  • ZTL-09 - 105mm assault gun variant
  • ST1 - 105mm assault gun export variant (with L7)
There now also is a 125mm anti-tank variant fitted with a new 60-caliber 125 mm gun with a muzzle velocity of 2000 m/s.

China has demonstrated capabilities of its PLL-09 self-propelled howitzers during military drills in the Pamir mountains.

The PLL-09 122-mm self-propelled howitzer system was fired at a simulated target during the live-fire training conducted by a mechanized infantry regiment under the PLA Western Theater Command in the Pamir mountains in China’s Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region on Sept. 9, 2016. The training aims to test the performance of the PLL-09 in plateau environment.

The PLL-09 provides indirect fire support for motorized infantry units. This SPH is capable of keeping pace with main battle tanks.

The PLL-09 is based on the new ZBL-09 Snow Leopard armored personnel carrier. It is armed with a version of the 122-mm Type 96 howitzer. This howitzer is a Chinese version of the Soviet D-30 towed howitzer. The Type 96 and its predecessors have been in service with Chinese army for more than 20 years. It is a proven design, used on a number of self-propelled artillery system from China and all around the world.
