China develop Mach-7 civil airplane, travel from Beijing to New York in 2 hours

How much mach India can achieve and then we also need formula to calculate in nautical miles to understand that Indian theory of Mach.

I think for civil usage, it must pay special care to develop something with efficiency in mind, the kind of hyper sonic vehicle you saw usually dont even have a way to take off and climb to high attiude by itself, let along an economical/efficient one.

Lets not play like as if you know anything in this aspect, let along better than hyper sonic wind tunnel tests.

You are not talking about what the manufacturer can do but what about the airliners can do with bare minimum ground crews at various destinations. Financially and economically, the Concorde was a disaster precisely because the airliners refused to maintain it. The Concorde existed for as long as it did thru the taxpayers.

Who is going own this latest SST? Airlines often lease -- not purchase -- their jets. This leave owning this latest SST to an exclusive few. And if enough airlines, after their numbers crunching, decides that the financial returns are not there, this SST will not go beyond the developmental stages.

Maintenance is unknown. For any airline, an idle aircraft is a money losing situation, especially if the aircraft is leased and not owned. This means the maintenance for this new SST cannot be more specialized than what is currently happening at all airports. This ranges from passenger access to refuel to luggage loading to minor troubleshooting of minor issues.

Is there a need for this time saving flight? So far, the flying public has not expressed sufficient interests in transoceanic flight in a couple hrs. Sufficient interests as in sufficient paying customers outside of the millionaires club. See the Concorde for example. Currently, supersonic flights over population centers are forbidden. That public sentiment was expressed in laws. That leaves transoceanic flights as one financial source. Possibly the only one. Further, even when the Concorde was flying, the millionaires prefers privacy over speed. So they saw the Concorde as nothing more than a novelty that they maybe use once in a while and fly subsonic in privacy for business and pleasure.

This latest SST design seems to be nothing more than a science project rather than a serious exploration of the SST as a viable business venture.

I dont, however I believe their studies based on hyper sonic wind tunnel tests and others hold way more water than some random internet pesudo-scholar such as you.

The idea of an SST have been around for decades. So it is not as if China have discovered/developed anything groundbreaking, even at Mach 7.

I am not talking about the technical aspects of the jet but about the COMMERCIAL VIABILITY of it. Like it or not, if this Chinese SST is for civil aviation, odds are well over %50 that it will languish on the development table. All the major aircraft manufacturers have their own SST plans and so far, none of them managed to create a market for their jets. If we take into the financial disaster that was the Concorde, then very accurate -- none.

Wind tunnel tests all you want. Hot air is all you ever will get out of it.

How do you described a country that has warp engine sinceancient Times? Did the warp engine use cow pee?
How there is a country, same are their people . Even after allocating 16 bn usd for engine, they have failed to even copy the Russian engine of old technology and they are bluffing to make mach 7 plane. First of all make a 85 kn thrust engine so that you may not have to buy it from Russia .

Team from China Academy of Engineering have finished the wind tunnel test of the hyper-sonic civil airplane that have a speed of 8600km/h, or Mach-7, the test results are very promising.

The plane have a sophasticate twin-wing design (see picture below), such design can increase the flight performance whilst reduce fuel-consumption. And according to the chief scientist of this project, the flight test will be start this year with a scaled-down model.

The plane can make a trip between Beijing to New York in 2 hours and can either be passenger airplane or cargo.

China has the world most advanced wind tunnels, including the one that can reach Mach-35.
