WASHINGTON (PTI): China has deployed more advanced and survivable solid-fuel nuclear capable CSS-5 MRBM missiles against India as a 'deterrent posture', Pentagon has said warning that a high degree of mistrust continues to strain their bilateral ties.

The PLA has replaced liquid-fueled, nuclear-capable CSS-2 IRBMs with more advanced and survivable solid-fueled CSS-5 MRBM systems to strengthen its deterrent posture relative to India, the Pentagon has said in its annual report on Chinese military build up to the Congress.

The report also says that Beijing is pumping in huge investments on border infrastructure developments laying more roads and rail network along the Sino-Indian border.

"Although this construction is primarily aimed at facilitating economic development in western China, improved roads could also support PLA border defense operations," it said.

Pentagon said that New Delhi remains concerned by China's close military ties with Pakistan and its growing footprints in the Indian Ocean, Central Asia and Africa.

Every one knows about china's goal.

CSS-5 ballistic missile (range 2,150-2,500km) may have included the test of countermeasures, desinged to overcome ballistic missile defenses

The enhanced but yet to be produced S-300VM/VMK is capable of intercepting ballistic missiles with a range of 2,500 km re-entry speeds of 4.5 km/sec, whereas the S-400 is claimed to be capable of intercepting ballistic missiles with a range of 3,500 km which equates to re-entry speeds of 4.8 to 5 km/sec. A system designed to intercept warheads at 5 km/sec has the ability to act as a point system.

A batteries of S-300VM/VMK with Agni II will be able to counter this..... Once deployed it will freeze many nerve in Beijing.

These missiles are deployed in Qinghai (formerly Amdo) province in Eastern Tibet. The deployment of DF-21 missiles may have caused 'constipation' in India

The PLA Second Artillery Corps fielded a new type conventionally-armed, solid-propellant, mobile-launch medium-range ballistic missile (MRBM) in 2004-05. Carried and launched from a wheeled 10X10 transporter-erector-launcher (TEL) vehicle, the missile is believed to be capable of delivering a single and multiple conventional warheads weighing 2,000kg and have a maximum range of 1,700km."
The US Report quoted above also states (in the same chapter): "China is currently investing in road development along the Sino-Indian border primarily to facilitate economic development in western China; improved roads would also support PLA border defense operations."
The tremendous development of roads in Nyingchi prefecture, north of the McMahon Line is a factor to be taken into consideration knowing that a railway is planned to reach the area in a few years time

Here is article what is based on reality.

By Hans M. Kristensen

The latest Pentagon report on Chinese military forces recently triggered sensational headlines in the Indian news media that China had deployed new nuclear missiles close to the Indian border.

The news reports got it wrong, but new commercial satellite images reveal that launch units for the new DF-21C missile have deployed to central-western China.

Rest is here.

Pak china india need to talk and resolve their problems peacefully and ignore america who has ulterior motives and couldnt care less if a few nukes go off in our neighbourhood. It prob would make them happy

Start Shourya silo building and deployment as well as station Brahmos batteries on the borders at once . This time hope the Air Force really activates their assets asap along the Eastern border.

Pentagon didn't claim that China was moving missiles near Indian border... that was all made up by Indian media. Hans M. Kristensen did explain that quite well in article I posted.

Why would India want to do this? did they get hypnotized by the pentagon?
