China cut Iran oil import as sanctions mount

I am not sure bout this. It could well be propaganda or other reasons. Don't forget the extensive investment of over 100 bill US dollars that China has in Iran
See post by FairandUnbiased. This is the doing of some Chinese state-owned company officials controlled and paid by USA. Some internal house-cleaning is in order for China (just in time for Chinese New Year).

Beijing will definitely settle this payment problem with Iran within a few days. The leadership is still finalizing a plan. Most likely, China will declare support for Iran in this showdown with the USA.

The problem with the government in Iran is that they don't realize they have no friends. They want to take on the mighty bloodthirsty USEurael (US-Europe-Israel) empire alone. Dreaming perhaps that China or Russia will come to the rescue at the last minute ... while all the signs point in the opposite direction. When they wake up to smell the coffee, it will be too late ... and wake up time has arrived.

It's good to be proud and independent, but challenging a heavily armed bully with bare hands, comparatively speaking, trying to inflict some scratches to show how proud you are is silly ... when in the end your pride will be further destroyed in a wheelchair after they cut off your legs and break your spine.

I don't like the USEurael empire, but I like my people more than to sacrifice them on the altar of shiite-Islamic crusade against "infidels" or imperialism. What's the point of pride when you are disabled ?

A regime change is needed either in US or in Iran or better even: both.

China is no more reliable than Russia. Understandably both care about their interests first, and have no love for islamist causes either. They only use Iran as bargaining chip to extract concessions from USA while leaving Iran high and dry in the end. Perhaps sending Iranians on a suicide mission to annoy their competitor. Iranian gov't is the fool for believing otherwise, or for thinking it can take on the big bullies alone without help.

According to our BBS news, it seems that because of Iran raised the price from last year. AND Iran does not accept barter or in RMB. Do not know the true or false.

I am just as pissed off as you are by the bullying and double standards against Iran (and the nuclear program is just an excuse). But I am even more pissed off at the countries who vote with the bullies against Iran - example, China, Russia, India - or just sit and watch, doing nothing (except talk). Every country that has any power to help has not helped when push came to shove.

Explain to me why Iran has no real friend who is willing to stick their neck for Iran, or do you think it has ?

Only say that I like your attitude, but international politics is based on the interest. If you are experiencing same problem, Iran will have the same practice. No excuse, we have done some things for Iran, but any against the West system , the price is high, our people assume it , you have to know this in any case I hope that China will have more help on Iran.

Very much like your patriotism.

.
Only special partner, will have special care, I just want to ask, Iran and China will become a special partner?

.
Do not be too worried, the United States have many concerns. And Iran is smart, the possibility of a conflict is small.

.
Seems like China have given a hint of not interfering if USA attacked Iran.
We know that China -- realistically speaking -- cannot do anything militarily. The question then becomes what can China do non-militarily to support Iran, if China does give a care to Iran as any sort of ally at all.

China can continue to buy Iranian oil but at a premium? I doubt it. China will certainly negotiate for better (lower) prices. For Iran, any income is better than none.

China can support Iran at the diplomatic level? Of course. But diplomacy over this issue is being perceived by most as exhausted and most likely futile. Part of this would be a public propaganda campaign against 'the Western' powers who are rallying against Iran. This is the least effort by China but also the least effective. The only thing China would lose is blood sugar from a lot of typing.

In the end, IF this rumor is true, then China has effectively given up on Iran. A military assistance would definitely draw the worst consequences to China and this will not happen. Anything less than military assistance to Iran and China can engage in active diplomacy later to defuse/reduce the adverse effects of any consequences. You can apologize easier for speaking than for acting.

Well, China has a lot of own considerations, but the U.S. also, do not forget it.

A most generalized response. Fine example and prediction of how China would deal with Iran.

Not so simple as you said. In any case, this is just a BBS discussion. International politics is complex, full exchange of interests, so I will not venture to speak, but you do not boast the United States also have a lot of trouble, you not necessarily determined over Iran.

you do realize that you are just speaking to a random person in front of the computer , not the sectary of state.:)

I can not comment on an international event? I can not discuss with others?

Maybe I do not know India ways, but it is free in Chinese BBS, everyone can express their views.

That is ridiculous comments. Such reduction of import is strictly from the top. You do not know anything but offer such nonsense.

The central bank is the issue here. U.S. and Europe have warned to cut off relation with any other central banks that have transaction with Iran. China, Japan and India have all reduced such import so as to have negotiation with U.S. and Europe to reduce such strict restriction.

If they do not reduce imports, U.S. and Europe will see that a direct challenge towards their sanction and no countries can afford to challenge them all together.

We need to find the US moles in Sinopec and have them all shot or deported to mandatory psychiatric treatment. Any reduction in the amount of foreign oil China buys is an act of treason.

What you have said is absolutely garbage.

First, Libya has never been China's friend. Libya has a much closer relationship with Taiwan during Gaddafi era, for which China has disgusted.

Second, China and Iran are at best business partner. We have friendly relationship but I do not think we are those types of friends bounded by treaties.

BTW, China indeed has no love or no interest for so-called islamist causes. Indeed, we want to have nothing to do with it and want to do everything we can to prevent it in China.

Its nothing new china does it all the time. They leave their friends when in need and china always looks for its profits.

Libya was last example and Iran is latest.

. .
You people read too much into it, China remains the biggest Iran's trade partner, it declined US unilateral sanctions and it could buy ALL Iran oil even if nobody else is buying.

However such position allows China to negotiate trade terms which are better for its interests: extra discount, longer payment terms, etc. And since Iran is a tough negotiator, China halved import for a month or two till they reach the deal, and then resume or even increase oil imports from Iran.

And no, China wont stop importing Iran's oil as some US fanboys are hoping for, not only because China would lose its strategic ally and supplier, but also because outcome would be a war. Iran would have nothing to lose, and as they said - no allowed oil exports, they close the Strait, US with its allies attacks Iran and all hell brakes lose.

.
-_- people, just because Iran doesnt like the US does NOT mean we should shoot sinopec's ceo for reducing irannian oil.

like it or not we have no currency agreement with iran and that means deals are done in dollars in addition Sinopec is now a world wide operation with deals everywhere at some point some where they will have to deal with the americans its far better is they are not impeded by the american government. iran is a souce of oil, thats it, they are not some blood-bonded ally. would you guys like it if ran closes the strait and cause massive oil spikes? threats like that only distances themselves from eveyone, us eu china etc.
