China Monday criticised Japan for approving the installation of an advanced US military radar in its Kyoto prefecture.

Japan had Thursday approved the installation of the US military radar to defend itself against missile threats from North Korea, reported Xinhua.

Hong Lei, China’s foreign ministry spokesman, said his country is concerned about the action.

Lei said China believes that unilaterally deploying an anti-missile system or forging an alliance is not conducive to the resolution of the regional non-proliferation issue as well as peace and stability in the Asia-Pacific region and will have a severe negative impact on global strategic stability.

China advocates political and diplomatic means to deal with missile proliferation and hopes to fully accommodate the legitimate concerns of each country on missile defence to safeguard global strategic stability, he added.

An X-band radar would be set up on the Japanese Air Self-Defence Force’s Kyogamisaki sub-base in the city of Kyotango.

The radar is capable of tracking precisely the trajectory of a ballistic missile and would allow the US forces to launch interceptor missiles from the ground and sea.

. . .
Being that China is currently arming itself to the teeth, does it really have any right to be upset? Especially being that this system is defensive in nature. Japan (like China) has every right to defend itself. What am I missing here?

A defense missile can be interpreted as an offensive weapon if you consider the strategic implication of trying to destroy potential foe's offensive arsenal. Giving the US already possess vast amount of offensive weapons, a missile defense system will improve its capability to launch even better offensive attack while mitigating foe's responsive attack.

Also, we are not exactly upset but it's Political Game we are trying to convey to the American here. That a missile defensive system will cause us to react and counter which lead to instability in the region.

.
The bigger question is why aren't we building missile defence systems like the US?
And why do we have a crazy no-first-use nuclear policy?
Will we not use nukes even if some country uses their conventional weapons to destroy our nuclear arsenal?

No First use is a good policy and China is just too large a country for any country to wage a war on. And NoFirstUse is a self imposed policy which can be changed depending on the situation.

I wonder why down syndrome patients look like people of a particular nation!

China selects its enemies from the weakest section of its neighborhood. China chose Japan, Philippines and Vietnam as its enemies since these countries are innocent, non nuclear, weaker than China and have no intention to invade China.

China threatens to strike Japan while it is not Japan but India which has nuclear armed China killer missiles ready to launch, still occupying Ladakh, NEFA, Sikkim, Bhutan etc, invaded China during the Boxer rebellion, had fun with Chinese women in China but is still considered by China as its spiritual lord. All propaganda aside, this is the fact.

Why does China consider India as its spiritual master despite the fact that India will again invade China but at the same time considers Japan as its enemy which will never fight China?

Can you really figure out what exactly goes in the mind of a down syndrome patient?

Japan's initiative to maintain balance of power will bring stability to the security of the region.

India is not in a position to invade china.. nor it ever should.
Yes there are things to learn from china, especially the reason for their prosperity, hence we should emulate their success if possible. Nothing wrong in learning from others.

Right...So the Chinese argument here is that China have the right to develop greater and greater offensive weapons, but if neighbors decide to develop countermeasures AFTER those offensive weapons have been launched, the neighbors are being unreasonably hostile, immoral, and destabilizing.

You will have to hack the US again to develop missile defence system like that..You cannot do this of your own.Let the hackers take their time and then do what you are known for i.e the reverse engineering.

We are the one that experience foreign invasion in the 20th century, not the other way around from USA/Japan. Huge difference!

And that gave you the right to threaten other peoples? You see nothing wrong with threatening the Japanese of today, who have nothing to do with what their ancestors did and paid the price for it?
