You don't even know that. That laser on the USN ship was a test. Not even the final product. They are constantly testing them. And doesn't matter how many hypersonic weapons when couple of thousand is enough. Will you be impressed if we have 10k nukes or 1k nukes? Not really. Thats just overdoing it.

China's destroyers and nuclear subs can all carry the hypersonic missiles with a range of 900 nautical miles with a speed of Mach 10.

China can make its destroyers being extremely deadly and armed to teeth to fulfill the shortcoming of its fewer carrier battlegroups.

Starship is on track to reach orbit next year at the pace SpaceX is moving. Starship will revolutionize the entire aerospace industry. Far exceeding Chinese capabilities, and its not even close.

All super heavy rockets can be a carrier, not just starship.

The US just successfully tested a 4,000km hypersonic glide vehicle in March. The US has a broad portfolio of hypersonic weapons and will mass produce them in the thousands. Not sure where he gets that China is ahead technologically, because they aren't.

And LRASM is a completely different weapon system. That its subsonic is completely irrelevant. Its the most advanced antiship cruise missile in the world because of its 800km range, very low observable frame, sea skimming, and advanced AI targeting capabilities.

First of all i think article is understating the figures for number of ballistic and cruise missiles in possession of China. Secondly why would any country give up their strategic weapons just bcz another country will benefit from it?

Those are fiber glass mockups, and those would never ever be launched in that type of configuration. That’s not to say DF-17 doesn’t exist, but those you see in that parade are not real weapon systems.


As for US, the US has a broad portfolio of advanced hypersonic weapon systems. A triad will be developed and mass produced into the thousands. We will also be the first to develop an advanced hypersonic space layer tracking system and relevant interceptors. In fact, the Navy has already confirmed they have a classified hypersonic defense weapon system thought to be the SM-6.
