China has expressed concern at the US decision to ramp up its military presence in the region by establishing a special naval task force to support its troops based in Darwin.

A technical “amphibious lift” group will be in place by 2018, possibly in Guam, to help the US mobilise its Australia-based troops quickly in an emergency.

The decision was interpreted by some Australiandefence analysts as the next step of the US’s goal to “pivot” its defence capabilities towards the Asia-Pacific region over the next decade.

In China, analysts said the decision could further offend the Chinese government, which is still unhappy over Julia Gillard’s 2011 decision to allow US marines to be based in Darwin.

Shanghai Academy of Social Science researcher Li Kaisheng said the build-up of US troops in the region endangered Australia’s political ties with China.

The Indians seemingly cannot help but stick their abnormally large noses- and the rather extensive nostril hairs them come with them, out of Sri Lanka, Nepal, Bangladesh, and Bhutan whenever it hears so much as someone mentioning the word "China" in those countries.

Lets clarify what happened here.

The Chinese government said nothing, the article doesn't mention that of course in its effort to sensationalize the news and put a false headline on.

Who actually said what.

Fudan University's international politics professor Shen Yi said China would be unhappy with the increased number of US troops in the region.

Where and when did the Chinese government make a statement?

For your Eyes only... :police:

China Voices Concern Over Australian-US Military Ties

Guam is a long way away to base an “amphibious lift” group for emergency pickup of troops in Australia. It's more than 10 hours away by boat.

That's a news item from 2012, talking about the 2011 decision.
Is there any official Chinese comment about the latest 2013 developments?

This is Stunt of CPC (Chini Communist Party) ... Whatever is the issue , Chinese must have to follow CPC line or they will not be heard anymore...About Australia above mentioned is the CPC line.

China needs to threaten Australia with missiles to show their concern.

China should just sell some weapons to indonesia as counter balance. Perhaps the yanks are tired of fighting middle eastern muslims, they want to give pacific muslims a go as well.
