Navy.81.cn reported on February 9 that a sixth Type 052C Aegis destroyer the Xian no. 153 was commissioned in the morning. As a result, China now has seven Aegis destroyers, one more than Japan. The other six are:

Six Type 052Cs:
The Lanzhou no. 170
The Haikou no. 171
The Changchun no. 150
The Zhengzhou no. 151
The Jinan no. 152
The Xian no. 153

and one Type 052D:
The Kunming no. 172

.
Very light design. Displacement of only 7k tonnes. More so a heavy frigate than a destroyer.

Compare that to the Kongos (9,0 - 9,5 k tonnes) or Atagos (10,0 tonnes).

Sir Please don't mention Aegis here. the Real Aegis is proved provide defence from Sea Skimming cruise missile to Ballistic missiles and capable to launch array of LACM and AShM

you Ships are just have some HQ 9.. that does not means you have Aegis system

Precisely, it is NOT Aegis, but an Aegis-like system. :)

52d is 7500 full load, anything over 6000 tonnes is called a destroyer in most navies.

Ageis means to destroy incoming Missiles varies from Sub sonic sea skimming to Ballistic missiles. for that Aegis houses multiple kinda SAM missiles. also can carryout multiple kind missile launches

But Chini have only some HQ 9. that can't able to perform the above Aegis systems

a worth of Analysis from RAND would help a lot

it has very few to do with tonnage of the ship but its role in the battle group

in terms of dealing saturated incoming missiles 052C is even more effective than Kongos as its fire channel is limited to 12 targets````but with 052C's AESA and active homing HHQ-9 which is a true fire and forget and 'unlimited' fire channel capability

as for my understanding

The Aegis Combat System is an integrated naval weapons system developed by the Missile and Surface Radar Division of RCA, and now produced by Lockheed Martin. It uses powerful computer and radar technology to track and guide weapons to destroy enemy targets.

The Aegis Ballistic Missile Defense System (Aegis BMD or ABMD)[1] is a United States Department of Defense Missile Defense Agency program developed to provide defense against ballistic missiles. It is part of the United States national missile defense strategy. Aegis BMD (also known as Sea-Based Midcourse) is designed to intercept ballistic missiles post-boost phase and prior to reentry.

It enables warships to shoot down enemy ballistic missiles, by expanding the Aegis Combat System with the addition of the AN/SPY-1 radar and Standard missile technologies. Aegis BMD-equipped vessels can transmit their target detection information to the Ground-Based Midcourse Defense system and, if needed, engage potential threats using either the SM-2 or SM-3 missile

gimme one source that HQ did the interception like this

done with SM 3 and SM 2

The U.S. Aegis missile defense system on Thursday destroyed two cruise missile targets and one ballistic missile target nearly simultaneously in a test conducted by a U.S. Navy destroyer off the coast of Hawaii, the U.S. Missile Defense Agency said.

Kongos are battle tested, with proven capability with even BMs. Everyone in naval fields know this. :)

so these further prove your very limited understanding of what is Aegis system, and its initial demand of developing such system``and more so you are cluelessly mixed the indea of Aegis system and lately developed Aegis BMD system```

`kid study carefully````Aegis is not about 'A' type of missile but a holistic and integrated airdefence combat system```till to date there are only two countries can develop such system, the US and China, the rest are more like playing alone with US

To add, the SM3 Block IIas are proven against medium to long range ballistic missiles (what more for regular cruise missiles, lol). SM3s on Kongos also can take out BMs in terminal decline. Our Kongos and Atagos will be upgraded to the SM-6s. As will our Akizukis.
