A much shorter passage to middle eastern markets, instead of having to go around like China is doing currently. Pakistan is practically handing it's sovereignty over Gwadar to China. Many of the infrastructure projects in Pakistan are being awarded to Chinese companies, along with defense contracts. A potential oil pipeline from Iran may end up going from Pakistan to China, though this is still in talks phase.

To say that China isn't benefiting from Pakistan is simply wrong.

As for those projects, you give us not out of your favor. Does any country in the world other than China are capable of or willing to invest those projects? For example suppose you have a school and every student has to wear school dress. But they will not wear it because they have to follow their own dress code( burqa ) which they think that their divine duty. And believe me. You can not convince them.

I absolutely understand what you said. China has suffered enough from double-standard policies on different religion areas( Don't misunderstand me. Minorities got a lot of favorable policies than Hans in many ways). And it is time to re-establish the authority of laws before too late. Nothing could be above laws, Islam, Christianity, Buddhism, whatever. And no western countries' blah blah blah could do anything on us. I believe that the Muslim countries do give the right and respect for non-muslims to practice their religions. No where in Islam is where it says to be harsh to a non-muslim or to not let them practice their beliefs. Also there is a minority of pakistanis who do not like china and Vice Versa in China in which some Chinese do not like pakistanis. It is like that in every society. No one is supporting another 100% You can not use that as an excuse to demoralize the supporters of Pak-China Friendship. I have seen more Indians on this thread who are taking this chance to worsen this situation between the two countries fellowmen. Indeed the two countries are good friends and of course there are some things they may not support of each other. That does not mean they can not still be great friends. So stop trying to derail the 2 sides from there common grounds. I agree that nobody could convince them, and it is also not necessary. What we need to do is to respond accordingly.

I don't know the numbers so I won't comment and make myself look foolish if I'm wrong, but I will say that this relationship is mutually beneficial. Pakistan benefits from Chinese investments, and China benefits from Pakistan's geographical location, but there is no denying that the current trade relationship is currently in China's favor.

most country's trade relationship in the world is in China's favor. That is why we are world plant and others need our products.

We did benefit from Pakistan. But when considering our contribution, the ratio is very very low in your favor.

A city in China's restive western region of Xinjiang has banned people with head scarves, veils and long beards from boarding buses, as the government battles unrest with a policy that critics said discriminates against Muslims.

Authorities will prohibit five types of passengers - those who wear veils, head scarves, a loose-fitting garment called a jilbab, clothing with the crescent moon and star, and those with long beards - from boarding buses in the northwestern city of Karamay, state media said.

The crescent moon and star symbol of Islam features on many national flags, besides being used by groups China says want to set up an independent state called East Turkestan.

The rules were intended to help strengthen security through August 20 during an athletics event and would be enforced by security teams, the ruling Communist Party-run Karamay Daily said on Monday.

"Those who do not comply, especially those five types of passengers, will be reported to the police," the paper said.

In July, authorities in Xinjiang's capital Urumqi banned bus passengers from carrying items ranging from cigarette lighters to yogurt and water, in a bid to prevent violent attacks. [ID:nL4N0Q0395]

Exiled Uighur groups and human rights activists say the government's repressive policies in Xinjiang, including controls on Islam, have provoked unrest, a claim Beijing denies.

"Officials in Karamay city are endorsing an openly racist and discriminatory policy aimed at ordinary Uighur people," Alim Seytoff, the president of the Washington-based Uyghur American Association, said in an emailed statement.

While many Uighur women dress in much the same casual style as those elsewhere in China, some have begun to wear the full veil, a garment more common in Pakistan or Afghanistan than in Xinjiang.
