China changing its J&K policy?

I think you misread my comment. If the news is true and once China has switched to stamping visas, it will not switch back to stapled.

oh my bad..! well i don't know about other ppl of j&k but visa given to this particular lady was stamped....And i hope this will continue for rest of indians of j&k too....

Like I said this is likely a gesture of good will towards India, ahead of the restarted talks on resolving the border dispute (in a few days) and Prime minister Wen's visit (in mid December).

This will be a significant move for increasing trust and mutual concern for both nation and hence, opportunity's for trade and bussiness..

I'm all for it. China and India are already major trading partners. It is ridiculous be mistrustful of each other and let a potentially dangerous border dispute simmer.

Thats what i wana hear

.
China is not going to change Kashmir policy. All they care is the success of Asian games - They don't want any controversies during the games, plain and simple.
Anyway,good tactic by China.

And you seriously think India is capable of creating controversies within China?? :disagree:

I'm sure you mean stamped and by all indications, China doesn't flip flop too much on international matters. If the decision has been made, it is likely to stay.

Yes I meant stamped (corrected my post). Thanks CS and I'm hoping you are right on this one.
BTW I like the tactic of first inflaming (stapled visa) and then normalizing (stamped visa) before the border talk to earn brownie points :D
Not trying to flame, I admire creativity in diplomacy.

China has always been concerned with its own affairs first and foremost and this means not acting internationally unless there is Chinese interests involved. Sorry but that's the way it looks to stay. Besides if China was to get more active internationally, there would be a set of new complaints against it.

No No No my friend - Chinese so far have been every active internationally- just not in the role of an ambassador on the world stage. it has been propping up deals with rogue nations and threatening countries in the neighborhood re: land grab issues. That certainly not a " we don't interfere attitude" .

disregarding sanctions against the worst genocidal regimes does not bode well.

I think there is a shift in China policy towards Kashmir. Countries that are as big as China will not have inconsistent policies towards issues. Having inconsistent policies would lower country's standing in the comity of nations and may be perceived to be a country not to be trusted
