What's new

China backs Pakistan's NSG membership.

. . .
China is enough to get us a waiver.
No, its not.
Otherwise you would have gotten a nuclear deal like the one India got from the IAEA and NSG - the kind that now allows India to trade with the world in nuclear technology and materials.

NSG is a consensus only run organization. The only country in the world with enough clout to literally arm twist everyone else into agreeing is the US(and they had to arm twist a lot of countries into accepting India, many countries wanted to refuse).

You need just one country to refuse and the entire thing comes crumbling down.

We are already providing nuclear power plants to Pakistan (based on US Westinghouse designs), so the NSG is merely a formality. :enjoy:
No its not.
Pakistan right now can only purchase reactors from China in the world and not uranium.

A waiver allows the country to trade in nuclear technology in full and materials with the rest of the world, purchase anything available in the market and export as well.

Right now and till the time Pakistan is able to get a waiver(which is never), Pakistan will have to be beholden to China for reactors and even there China is limited to selling Pakistan only reactors (as that is in the "grandfather agreement" China originally signed with Pakistan and is exempt from NSG restrictions)

For example - India, after being given the waiver has already started exporting heavy water and importing uranium.
Importing uranium for electricity generating reactors frees up Indian mined uranium exclusively for weapon purposes and stockpiling.

Only fools are buying in the concept that a NSG waiver is not required for Pakistan and/or China can get them a waiver.

China is only saying these statements to fool gullible Pakistanis, because they know Pakistan would never be given a waiver. And also they would never really want Pakistan to actually get a waiver because in this way, Pakistan remains completely and utterly dependent on China and China alone.

They just have the ticket to watch the movie..... apparently, now they want to take the lead actors role as well! :D
And the second India joins the NSG, Pakistan can kiss its waiver goodbye permanently.

NSG operates solely on consensus - that means we just need one country to oppose Pakistan getting a waiver to nix the whole concept.

If we join, you know which direction India is going to vote every single time.

The entire thing however does not matter much, its just the icing on the cake.

What was important has already been achieved - we are free to buy and sell nuclear technology with the world now....and the singular goal - of being able to buy Uranium from the global market (as India has little uranium) is accomplished.

My six year old knows more about the NSG than you do. You're embarrassing yourself with your half-assed commentary.

The chances of Pakistan getting an NSG waiver remain slim, despite China's reported support.

LOL You aint gonna see any reply from @Horus or @Chinese-Dragon for this one.

India already has the NSG waiver.

you're wrong actually.we're talking about India being NSG member.

China red-flags India’s entry into NSG, may push for Pakistan - The Times of India

but your assumption is wrong.China's push alone is not enough.it is based on consensus.

but there is a silver lining.China can't push Pakistan and block India simultaneously,as main hurdle for India may become its non NPT status, while Pakistan is in whole new shore...

Pakistan's hurdles will be a lot,its history for proliferation, non NSG sanctioned nuclear deal with China(as a NSG member,it is going to make China's push quite light),and NPT,among others...

but the thing is,India necessarily doesn't need NSG membership.we got what we needed most, fuel.

They just have the ticket to watch the movie..... apparently, now they want to take the lead actors role as well! :D

and we're going to get it,thanks to our enormous nautanki capabilities.. :D
