China asked to stop construction work in Pakistani Kashmir

Mate things have changed since 1990's these days the threat level is at it's lowest its been and most the militants have had enough now and want to reform and lead normal lives.

You can read this from fighters in their own words how they have been misled and the way they been treated.

Faces of the waning war in Kashmir - Features - Al Jazeera English

Bilal Ahmed thought he was battling for the freedom of his homeland Kashmir when he took up arms and slipped across the border to Pakistan to wage a war against what many deemed to be Indian occupation of the region.

That was then. Now, about 20 years later, he is still battling - but only to lead a normal life as a civilian.

In the last few years from 2010 to now we have shot dead hundreds of Pakistani jihadees that came across the LOC we have killed most of the main Commanders of JEM and LET and in 2013 we will kill more :coffee:

The Jammu and Kashmir Police on March 8 claimed that militant outfits Harkat-ul-Jihad al-Islami (HuJI) and Jaish-e-Mohammad (JeM) have been rooted out of the Jammu region, reports Hindustan Times. The focus, they said, has now shifted to the Lashkar-e-Toiba (LeT) and Hizb-ul-Mujahideen (HM), who remain active. "HuJI and JeM were mostly active in Kishtwar District and have been wiped out. Out of four HuJI militants, three have been eliminated. The fourth has left the organisation and is now working as a freelance journalist," said Ashok Gupta, Inspector General of Police (IGP, Jammu Zone). Nearly 180 militants, including 21 women, are still working in Doda and Kishtwar Districts, Gupta said. "We worked on a strategy for winters and eliminated more and more militants as they came down from the hills. With the support of civilians, we were able to target militants, particularly commanders," he said. This year, 17 militants have been killed in Jammu, of whom 10 were HM commanders, the IGP claimed.

Hordes of tourists, and the return of some former militants, reflect cautious optimism in a disputed region:Economist

Even in November, well after the usual season, Kashmir’s tourist spots are heaving.

Flights are packed to Srinagar, the bustling summer capital of the disputed, Muslim-majority territory, some 880 km (550 miles) north of Delhi. A construction boom is under way. Tailors, handicraft-makers and hoteliers call it their most lucrative year in recent memory. Guides talk cheerily of the British government this month lifting its advice against visiting.

By day soldiers and police have cleared their old barricades from the streets. New hotels and coffee shops are opening. Guffawing tourists play in the snow at the ski resort in Gulmarg. Officials last year trumpeted news that over 1m visitors (mostly Indian) had gone to Kashmir. That was a sharp rise on previous tallies and proof, just possibly, of growing stability.

Mr Bhat says as many as 170 families have crossed back in the past three years, and 6,000 more people are waiting to come. Indian officials suggest hundreds in Muzaffarabad have applied, though Pakistani officials are in no rush to help. Hosting camps of Indian Kashmiri refugees has helped Pakistan draw international attention to the dispute.

Mr Bhat says he has no regrets, though his Muzaffarabad-born wife says she struggles—she is unable to get work and finds Indian-Kashmiris to be a materialistic and closed-minded lot. :rotfl:
One, Jameel Ahmad Mir, admits he was drawn by India’s growing prosperity. He came back this year after 22 years on the Pakistani side because he saw India’s economy growing:

Seriously..half million are not oppressing people, been there seen it,army is much more busy guarding the border area, those troops are included in that 5 lac count, and many in the cities are busy curbing the sectarian clashes between shia and Sunni, get the ground realities checked and then blabber.

Must say, you do have the gift of the gab, but while you were there, did you bother to remove your saffron sunglasses and incredible ear plugs. Perhaps these students were rubbing some more shine on the Indian ego.

every indian is an outsider in kashmir and kashmiris are not indians.

As if Kashmir and conquering India is a birth right of some chaps in Pakistan, who think they are righteous in killing and destruction of people of other countries, Based on some brain washed illogical concepts.

You people always talk as if Kashmir is your birth right, Kashmir was never ruled by Pakistan and will never in future. The reality is different and those people rejected you and their priorities are different now.
Even in 1948 local support of Pakistani intruders is nil and same happened in 1965.
