China approves $73 billion worth subway projects

Traffic jams everywhere.
China has too many big cities, more than 100 cities with population more than 1 million !!!
According to Europa's metro design, some city has a metro system when the population is less than one million.

Tomorrow I'll go to Hunan Province for national holiday.
Changsha only has one metro line so far, painful!:(

Yiwu,the well-known county-level city,has drawn up a plan for a 4-line subway network by 2030. :hitwall::D

.
Indian Metro rail project by 2018-2020 : 2600 km Constructed/under construction/planned before 2018-2020 :)

but by then China could have 5000 km metro lines
i think any city with more than 1 million people should have a metro system, it doesn't need to be all subways, but light rails. In that case, China has nearly 150 cities with more than 1 million people.

And for those less than 1 million, BRT and trams are good options.

Awesome and if they are able to keep up with the timelines, that would be another feather in cap.

Having said that, i guess with the number of metro systems in beijing, one would need to carry a color palette to identify the color of route and train :P
Not really, construction is always late.
Metro Line 2 of Wuhan was planned to open in 2012, but actually in Dec.2014.

Yiwu is county-level, but the economy is really good.
The population is more than one million.
GDP per capita is $13,000 in 2014.
So I think Yiwu is fully qualified.

Construction in 2/3th tier cities is too slow, frustrating!
I really cannot understand there are only 3 lines in my city (4 by Dec of 2015), but the local economy is way better than Delhi!!! We have more than 10 million people!!!

we have planned for every cities with 20 million population .I myself don't know we are already working on 2700 km metro .

Good oue Asian continent should overtake the EU and the west . India can learn lots from china on cheap manufacturing of rails and equipments. But India and chINA ARE VERY LARGE COUNTRIES .. These metros are apart from Rail lines . But India still have long way to go . Good job guys :) Feel great as a asian . Hope India and China will work together . If that happens no one can stop our duo :D

We only use products from our own rolling stock manufacturer, CRRC.
Once foreign metro manufacturers had some shares, but now all kicked out except a few joint ventures.

20 million population??? :o:

:P Sorry 1 million only :

In 2006, the National Urban Transport Policy proposed the construction of a metro rail system in every city with a population of 20 lakh.[2] On 11 August 2014, Union Urban Development Minister M. Venkaiah Naidu announced that the Union Government would provide financial assistance, for the implementation of a metro rail system, to all Indian cities having population of more than 1 million.[3][4] In May 2015, Prime Minister Narendra Modi approved the Union Urban Development Ministry's proposal to implement metro rail systems in 50 cities. The majority of the planned projects will be implement through special purpose vehicles, which will be established as 50:50 joint ventures between the Union and respective State Government. The Union Government will invest an estimated 5 lakh crore (US$75 billion). Currently, rapid transit systems operate in 15 cities and more are under construction or in planning in several cities of India

There are 303 cities more than 1 million people in China(including suburban areas and affiliated counties). Among them 100+ cities are qualified, with population in the downtown more than one million. So this metro construction mania is only at the beginning stage.

The market of China, India and ASEAN is exceedingly huge.
That's why CRRC is building factories in Southeast Asia and even in USA(u know their metro system and cars are damn outdated).

.
China really tops the world in many fields ...not only in the metro but also in the wind energy installations and their progress is mind boggling. Just in 5 years, from zero to the global leader in wind energy installation.

.
People's Square, Metro Line 1/2/8, 30+ exits
@Shotgunner51 I always avoid taking metro during busy hours in Shanghai.
But I enjoy having some drink sitting inside the station and watching people passing by.:-)

Yup during busy hours the Metro is crazily packed so avoid whenever possible!

But I have no option other than Metro Line 2 to commute between Lujiazui (陆家嘴) & Hongqiao (虹桥), even if I'm willing to pay the crazy parking fee at SWFC the road traffic (Yan An Road Elevated Highway, 延安路高架) just doesn't move.

Seriously. Only now many could take note of our huge landscape. Each state in India and each province of China will have large scale metro projects...

No no don't lie it's 120% including NRI Indians... Have fun mate
Just check UN reports and you will find the truth. Otherwise just close your eyes and you won't see the reality. My indian friends from Delhi told me about the slums of Delhi and we made some fund raising too.

That's why I rent an apartment only 10 minute away on foot!
I prefer bus.
When everyone takes metro, bus is relatively empty and I can enjoy the beautiful scenery!

See, empty seat!
I always take bus 42 to the bund area instead of metro1.:-)
