Actually, that's needless. Because China went ahead to send surveillance ships to Hawaii as acceptance of US surveillance in offshore of Hainan.
They argue that there's an on-going exercise, an naval base in Hainan. Don't they know that Hawaii hosted bigger naval base and RIMPAC 2014 going on including China fleet? while their surveillance ship spying in Hawaii EEZ.
