China and Russia have signed an aerospace collaboration agreement with a view to strengthening joint programmes on satellite navigation systems.
China's State Administration for Science, Technology, and Industry for National Defense (SASTIND) - the primary agency in China for defence industrial development - said on 18 December that the new Sino-Russian accord is focused on bilateral co-operation on the development and production of aerospace components.
SASTIND said the agreement was signed during meetings between senior officials from the China National Space Administration and the Russian Federal Space Agency, agencies that are involved in exploring and enhancing collaboration on satellite navigation systems, namely the Chinese BeiDou system and its Russian equivalent GLONASS.
