Both India and China exploit Africa, but because of greater share by China, China gets all the blame.

Doing business is not exploitation mate. Think about it this way. India needs FDI. So we open our markets in retail for foreign investors. Is this exploitation? Similarly African nations dont have the money to build infrastructure, pay their employees etc., So China and India do it. This is by no means colonialism or exploitation. Colonialism is taking over a country's political establishment and getting them to do whatever you want them to do. That is done only by the US today, especially in the middle east and latin America.

Its still an opinion. Working in the foreign ministry does not give anyone more credibility. People are subject to their political beliefs and opinions.

Sir

You havent thought hard enough.

No offence to India nor anyone else.

Today China is in every corner of the world. They have people, money and ambition. Their factory need lot of natural resources, no wonder they go to where they can get it, so even in Africa or elsewhere.
Let me take as example: 10 years ago, there were few Chinese tourists in Germany and few employees in the German company I work for. Today I guess the numbers have increased tenfold!

Lol. Priya Esselborn is the author of the article. I don't intend stealing her glory. She is an intelligent woman who consults for our Southern African Ministry and her article is spot on. On a practical note, the tide is turning against India and China in Southern Africa. Africa is a fertile ploughing ground for these two nations to economically colonise due to the high levels of corruption here. The people however are starting to speak out against the business conduct of the Chinese mostly and in some instances the Indians. Indian investors by the way are not magnaminous philantrophists who go into Africa and build roads and bridges and schools out of concern for the local population. Their structural improvements are meant to improve their import and export conduits. The Chinese insistence on importing their own people to circumvent paying higher salaries to the local population is a huge cause of resentment. Criticising western colonialists in order to boost your egos doesn't really help the situation. Africans are complaining that at least the Whites employed the locals, developed the infrastructure and educated the local population whilst they were here. Putting that aside however since that was the past, India and China will be facing obstacles in Africa soon due to the conduct of their investors in Africa. They need to either address the situation or to start stuffing the rear of their pants in anticipation of getting the boot. Once Africa boots you out, never expect an easy return

Never said there was any altruism involved. Its business and countries will always do what is profitable for them. However, colonialism is a far fetched idea, or maybe its a loosely used term.

As for resentment amongst Africans, well, I guess that needs to be addressed.

.
But why are Germans writing about it of all the people? I mean they've been colonials themselves. Besides, Africa was under European grace for so many years, and with all the this aid and that aid programs. Then how come except north African countries, South Africa and Botswana, the rest of the country is still in the same state as it was at that time?

Can the reporter answer this question?

.
And about your Signature... India has 22 official languages , not just 2. Hindi is not a Persian-Turkic language but urdu is.

The guy doesnt know wtf he's talking about period. The base for both Urdu and Hindi is an Indigenous dialect which was influenced by Central Asian langs.

Are you trying to deny that india had been colonised by central asian worriors for nearly 1000 years?

Do you know how huge India is? Most of the time it was parts of India.

And I can bring up Manchus, Mongols, Japanese, etc if you want.

Anyways, India doesn't have a big presence in Africa yet. So I don't know why they bring India into this.
