China and India : Brothers at Odds Who Shared the Same Destiny?

Many dozens if not hundreds of buildings and structures are erected each year in China
Those structures, which are accused of "cloning", represent the tiniest of numbers although I am not endorsing it
So calm down Indians! Dont easily get jealous over our overall achievements pls!

Nepal is part of south Asia get it ?

I do wonder why oldest surviving civilization is worshiping an south Asian Info Aryan God.

Indian and Chinese cultures effected eachoter heavily in the past and that's something positive, not something that should be ashamed of!

We would have missed the entire Zen culture if Bodhidharma did not spread buddhism in China. There would be a huge hole in the human history. Chinese learned Buddhism from South Asians and transformed this into one of the most beatiful and elegant belief system on Earth. Is it a shameful history?

When people interact and learn from eachother the development of new ideas that can change the world is almost unavoidable.

One should quit the populist forms of nationalism and try to learn and interact as much as possible from other cultures.

n excellent opening post and then the thread ruined by trolls aka @Luca1 and th usual Chinese troll brigade...

And I am yet to see a senior Indian poster having said anything bad about China on this thread.

I remember once around 2011-12 @Chinese-Dragon being quite Indian friendly. But seems even being a senior poster, he has become a troll dealing with trolls from India.

My work takes me often to East Asia and all my visits to Shanghai or Guangzhou (mostly accompanied by Indian embassy staff), I have personally met many many average Chinese who have 1000 times better view of India and Indians. In fact, I was surprised that they know bollywood movies like PK and 3 idiots. I admire the Chinese because of their economic growth in the past 2 decades and especially their rich and diverse 1000s of years old culture which I can relate to my own religion and Indian traditions, which go back to Buddha and the Hindu mythological eras.

Being an ardent history buff, I find it amazing that we co-existed for so many many years without having a SINGLE WAR in our history and suddenly, since 1962 (a tiny 50 years in a history of 10000 years...) we are enemies? WTF?

If anything, even the worst India haters on this forum knows that inspite of India's poverty, underdevelopment, etc... we are the only nation who can grow to be a mammoth economy and regional power. And my personal experience with many Chinese economists/ Bankers say that Chinese value strong countries/ people and civilizations. And frankly, India is today where China was in 1995-2000.

PS: I don't know why a crap media like that of India's makes most Chines here believe a country of 1.3 billion people hate them because a cheesy Indian channel says so :hitwall::hitwall:

Don't stand on a higher moral ground.
Just look at your media, every newspaper and TV channel.
India is not even mentioned in our news, why are you people keeping talking about China here and there?
Just look at Far East section, so many nonsense China-related threads have been created by Indians.
On Chinese dragon. Yes, when u registered in PDF and see you people's behaviour, how can he remain "friendly"? If he did, he was just emotionless.

Who told you? 95 % of our population don't even know indiatimes or rediff.com.... all these sell out english media doesn't represent Indians. Have you ever visited India? A poor man from rural India, who is all for working whole day to feed his family is concerned about China 1000 of kms away? Are you for serious?

What you ,mean by Hindus? I can make an id and claim to be buddhist from China, so? An anonymous online forum with an Indian population of hardly 200 active members represent a country of 1.3 billion? Is that your logic?

.
Yep we never even talk about India really.

The hysteria is completely one-sided.

Once I believed there might be some similarities between China and India, since we are both 1+ billion populations who have suffered heavily at the hands of the Western powers in the past.

The difference is that despite this past, India seems to be completely enamoured with anything Western/white. According to global polls India is the most pro-American population in Asia, apart from the Philippines.

Also, think about this:

Western media stories about India: Poverty/Caste/Rape

Chinese media stories about India: Economy/Culture/BRICS

Yet they still behave completely slavishly towards the West as if they are holy. I don't believe there is any universe in which India would side with a fellow Asian country instead of the West, they would choose the latter every time.

It seems to be a leftover of history, hence their extremely negative behavior towards China/Pakistan and their fawning behavior towards anything Western. You can see their behavior towards Northeast Indians who are also not ethnically white.

Differences are enormous between India and China. China was never completely dominated and controlled by western world in the past. India was ruled by British for about 200 years and before that by Moguls and Delhi sultanate for about 600 years. With it came cultural and economic subjugation. So, in one sense you had a continuous culture devoid of western influence. China never experienced this subjugation by foreign invaders. So if you look at history dispassionately of both nations you will understand China had an isolated history compared to India for about 1000 years. If you looked at the video we both are upward mobile nations while western nations are stagnating.

It's not just that, where does communism and capitalism come from? Go to any Chinese city, how do they dress?

If you're not still practicing mandiate of heaven or wearing a queue hairstyle, lets not talk about preserved culture.

Because with globalization, western culture is everywhere already.

Queue is Manchurian, not Han. And yes the mandate of heaven, traditional Chinese marriages, naming of ancestors, tea ceremony, etc. is still practiced. Alot of the girls I know know how to play the guzhen.

meanwhile you not only talk in English but think in English. You are educated in English only. An elite Chinese scientist could be completely unable to speak English because we are taught science in Chinese. You are taught science in English. There is not a concept in this world which does not have a Chinese equivalent; dare you say the same for Hindi?

We have never been colonized completely (or even over 1/3 of our land). We have full traditions in every sense of the word. Clothing is not the most vital part (although we still have hanfu ceremonies and women still wear qipao). The most important part of culture is the ability to think abstractly in your own language.

The speaker, Hans Rpsling, is a Swedish MD. ... Then he starts to question why Asia is so backward compared to Europe despite they are very hard working and good at what they do. .... He comes with very good answers, about why both China and India stayed backwards at the civlization race

A medical doctor, with tunnel vision? That's not a excuse for having such limited knowledge on history of several major civilizations, and moreover a stupid narrative on Asia by excluding all the advanced economies in the eastern part of it.

He better get his own head examined, medical doctor.

Im not an example of full blown Indian, Im an American mostly. And these Indians here represent a small percent of Indians too. And Indians talk in their native tongue, English when they have to.

Most Indians still live in rural areas, still very much poor. Please go to these places and see if they, "think in English". Go to these places and try to even get around in English alone.

Some rural places are barely unchanged still to this day.

Absolutely.
But if u open an Hindi news video, u just hear a lot of English words.

Every element has a unique Chinese character.

Let me clear this point for you. The backwardness that he claims is only in the economic means. He actually compared the life expectancy and GDP Per capita and despite Western GDP Per capita is much higher throughout the last 2 centuries, Chinese and Indian life expectancy outgrowths their GDP Per capita.

So backwardness is definitely no cultural (I wouldn't even watch a video with such an absurd thesis let. Alone posting here) but in terms of economics and narrow it down more in terms of GDP Per capita.

The guy has nothing against Asians, he likes the culture and he clearly acknowledges past domination of Asia. The video is the completely opposite of what you have imagined.

That's true. First hand account of stories from Indian co-workers. IF you're indian and can't find a mate, they will find a cousin for you.

You have got it wrong. This cousin thing is prevalent with your all weather friend on our west, not us. BTW what do you know about the term called "cousin"?? Do you have any idea with your one child policy?

.
Let's be honest, if China was a white-majority country, there would not be so much scaremongering from the Indian media about us.

You should ask thse Italian and Estonians to know that how we will treat the foreigners/white when they hurt our people or law.
@Chinese-Dragon you were used to be a good poster what happened to you .
AFAIK there is a lots of difference between old ancient culture and modern China.Chinese ancient culture was rich in their life style, traditional attires and in other aspects.

But what now we can see in China is the direct imitation of European culture .Those suits your leaders and elites regularly using for all functions are European symbol especially Brits .Am I right ? @Chinese-Dragon
Your new building structures are also imitating European styles.Your wediings ,life styles all of these are following European culture.

Now our medias bitterness towards you .
Whatever the reason (we knew it was Nehru wrong policy )You shouldnt have to attavk us in 1962.Ok we might forget that .
But after that you began to aid Pakistan even.in the nuke sector .
That is where the mistrust is lying .It wont go that easily .Pakistan mere existence is depend upon anti India attitude .Your leaders and you know that.Yet they support them unwantedly .

On topic .Had it been an autocratic rule we would have been.develop like that so easily. But that is not the case here .We are a democratic nation.
