yeah.very hard.about 2 million of them have no entrance to colleges.and if one want to enter very good schools,he should be at least in the top 10% of his provence.

Very hard if you are from a populous province with only a dozen or so of good local universities and colleges。

Extremely hard if then you want to get enrolled by a top-20 university or college in places like Beijing or Shanghai。

As a matter of fact，top students from rural areas do better than their city counterparts，for the simple reason that the former need to study a lot harder than the latter，who are provided with more vacancies。
