Using logic they probably can but moralistically and emotionally this is so wrong. Social workers in the UK never use common sense. I think this is the same stance they have taken in Norway. This is a situation where the Norwegian hierachy must step in and united the family for gods sake - what the hell are these people doing? Complete madness. This is an advert NOT to go to Norway!!

Norway should deport the parents along with the kids as parent's visa is running out.

Point is that if we live in their country, their rules apply to us. I could never live with that but obviously for many Indians and South Asians, it is OK to live in the west. I have nothing against that. If one lives in the midst of Europeans or Americans and accepts their culture and ethos, I suppose it is the right thing to do. Anyone who finds it too difficult to adjust and adapt to their ways should not be there in the first place. What is totally wrong is to live in the west, enjoy every good thing the west has to offer and then curse them and their way of life. That is really pathetic.

Its pathetic that they have chosen to impose their value system without bothering to show in a scintific manner that it is indeed bad for child/parent.
But then, their country, their rules. I will leave such a country if I was in that situation.

The people that go to these countries are by far more productive than most of their citizens. I for one make money here, get my education and pay taxes, while most Americans collect food stamps and sit home. Perhaps if these nations didn't rape our countries, we would not have to emigrate here. For self proclaimed nations Of Justice, Freedom, and Tolerance they seem to be everything but that. A western nation preaching tolerance of differnt cultures is like a Lion preaching peace to Gazelles. Just my two cents.

I'm an American-born Indian and I'm going to move back to India with my family once I complete my education because I can't live in this culture. As for every good thing the West has to offer, it's been obtained through imperialism not because of the culture. I have just as much right to enjoy these things as do Westerners.

Every thing you said is correct. My only point is that I really couldn't care less about them. They can all collectively go to hell as far as I am concerned. I don't live there so why should I care what they do to themselves? I don't hold them in awe, I don't even like them but I believe that they have the right to live or die the way they want or screw themselves the way they want. I can't say about Pakistanis but I believe that every Indian who choses to live in the west surrenders a little bit of something and in a way agrees to adhere to their way of life and ethos. For some it may be a bargain. For the rest, maybe they would be happier back home, however crappier or dirtier that home maybe, it is still home.

I am aware of what they have done to my country and I hope some day the roles are reversed.

TBH, I doubt something like this would have happened in... say... the UK? I mean, with the amount of south Asians that live there, parents would be gettin' arrested left, right and centre.

Those Scandinavians are a bit weird about things like this.
