Top skier, Muhammad Abbas calls on Air Chief

ISLAMABAD, Feb 08(APP): Top skier of Pakistan who has qualified for participation in Winter Olympics 2010, Muhammad Abbas of Pakistan Airforce was called on Chief of the Air Staff, Air Marshal Rao Qamar Suleman here at Air Headquarters today.

Abbas, would be the first ever Pakistani skier to represent the country in Winter Olympics Games 2010 planned to be held in Vancouver-Whistler, Canada from 12 to 28 February, 2010.

Both PAF and the Ski Federation of Pakistan (SFP) have given requisite exposure of training to Muhammad Abbas by providing him Advanced Ski Training in Austria twice as well as facilitating his participation in Asian Ski Championships and international ski competitions.
 
Air Chief reviews PAF’s one year operational performance

ISLAMABAD, Feb 20 (APP): Pakistan Air Force’s Annual Operational Review for the year 2009, was held at Air Headquarters that was presided over by Chief of Air Staff Air Chief Marshal Rao Qamar Suleman.Air Commodore Farooq Habib, Assistant Chief of the Air Staff (Safety), Pakistan Air Force, presented the statistics of all major /minor air occurrences during the year.

A comprehensive presentation was delivered by Air Marshal Mohammad Hassan, Deputy Chief of the Air Staff (Operations), Pakistan Air Force in which entire activities of PAF were discussed.

Air Chief Marshal Rao Qamar Suleman expressed satisfaction on the overall performance of PAF and stressed the need to maintain a high state of operational readiness by the PAF to meet the challenges faced by the country.
The new inductions in the PAF, and the emphasis on realistic training, evident by conduct of various Air Exercises undertaken within and outside the country, he said, are tangible steps in that direction.

The Chief of Air Staff highlighted the importance of preserving combat potential in the peacetime, which he said necessitated a strict observance of Flight Safety tenets.

He said that during 2009 PAF flew maximum with much lesser accidents and mishaps. Besides undertaking extensive anti-militants Operations, PAF did not lose sight of the operational training required for maintaining optimum combat readiness state. Consequently, PAF participated in various operational exercises with foreign Air Forces abroad as well as in land.

The Activity concluded with award of the trophy and certificates to the Bases on their performances in Flight Safety and Sports. The Rahim Khan Inter Base Flight Safety Trophy was awarded to PAF Base, Rafiqui.

Air Chief Marshal Rao decorated with highest Saudi Award

ISLAMABAD: Chief of the Air Staff, Pakistan Air Force Air Chief Marshal Rao Qamar Suleman has been decorated with King Abdul Aziz Award, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia’s highest award.

According to a press release issued by PAF here on Tuesday, the PAF chief was decorated with the award during his call on with Assistant Defence Minister of Kingdom of Saudi Arabia Prince Khalid bin Sultan on Monday in Riyadh.

Both the dignitaries remained together for some time and discussed matters of professional interest.

Prince Khalid decorated the Chief of Air Staff with the King Abdul Aziz Award of First Order - the Kingdom’s highest award on behalf of the Custodian of two Holy Mosques, King Abdullah bin Abdul Aziz for his outstanding services in extending bilateral relations between the two countries.

Air Chief calls on PM

ISLAMABAD, March 5 (APP): Chief of Air Staff Air Chief Marsha Rao Qamar Suleman called on Prime Minister Syed Yusuf Raza Gilani at PM’s House here Friday afternoon and briefed him on professional matters relating to Pakistan Air Force.

Air Chief awards Winter Olympic Skier

ISLAMABAD, Mar 12 (APP): Air Chief Marshal Rao Qamar Suleman, Chief of the Air Staff, Pakistan Air Force honoured Corporal Technician Muhammad Abbas, top skier of Pakistan Air Force at Air Headquarters here on Friday.

The Air Chief announced an award of Rs 5 lac and promotion to the next rank of Senior Technician in recognition of his excellent performance in Winter Olympic Games-2010.He also appreciated him for making history by raising Pakistan’s flag for the first time in any event of Winter Olympics.

Additionally, an expert dietician would be arranged for him for his physical fitness and he would be sent abroad for professional training.

The Air Chief assured the athlete that PAF would provide all facilities and assistance in order to improve his professional skills so that he would be able to bring laurels for the country in future as well.

Traditionally, PAF is supporting various sports in Pakistan at national and international levels including Squash, Cricket for Blinds and Skiing etc.
