Chief of Japan Air Self Defence Force on a three-day visit to India - The Times of India
KOLKATA: General Haruhiko Kataoka, chief of staff, Japan Air Self Defence Force (JASDF) arrived in India on Monday on a three day visit. The visit assumes special significance in the light of India's improving military co-operation with Japan. This is a consequence of the growing relationship between the two countries, an official said. During the day, Gen Haruhiko called on Air Chief Marshal NAK Browne, chief of air staff, Indian Air Force, and interacted with senior officers at the Air Headquarters in Delhi. He is scheduled to visit the Western Air Command, Para Troopers Training School at Agra and the Aircraft and Systems Testing Establishment (ASTE) in Bangalore.
"Indo-Japan relations are multifaceted and founded on historic linkages. Mutual high-level delegation visits of both countries has contributed significantly to the consolidation of the existing ties and has given a further boost to the cordial relations between both nations. High level defence staff talks and exchanges between the Japanese and Indian Armed Forces with a focus on regional and international security, and steps to increase defence cooperation and exchanges have considerably improved our military to military relations," an official said.
