What's new

Chief Justice Iftikhar Chaudhry Must Go!

that is biggest illusion of this nation!

Who else do you see that can do something?

Fact is, that only one organ of the state out of three is functioning properly, to some extent, and that is Judiciary.

1 hi acha judge mila hai usay bhi ghar bhaijh do

At least one institution is functional in the country and as per some survey reports he is the most credible person in Pakistan. Why we have the habit of humiliating our legends in the streets or exiling them to foreign land. This culture must end now... The whole of Pakistan will be supporting CJ if they tried to play games with him.

Sad
If CJ is so honest then he should leave double standard.
This CJ has rejected to listen the case of son of Gilani, but He was personally listening the case of his Son to save him.
I hope This CJ will announce exemplary punishment to his Son.

This guy riaz haq has no credibility and I m amazed how can anybody take his side..Anyways if CJP's son found guilty he should be punished and that would be a trend setter and chief justice should now take all imp cases on urgent bases and decide on NRO and gilani and even military cases abt balochistan..
If somebody's source turns out to be his own blogpost, well yeah. Hamara masla hay kay ham sab khud ko aflatoon samaghtay hain.

Mr first of all CJ never had double standard I was disappointed when he said he will not listen to his son case because in Islam even if you are a Qazi and your own son comes in front of you than you have to decide according to law and you can't back from the case and say that some else judge should listen to it Sir but as we follow mostly british law that is why he backed out of the case

CJ is the last bastion of truth and justice in our country, and now these theives and looters want this last line of resistance out of the way, so that they can destroy whats left of our country. shame on them!

These are emotional words, while facts suggest otherwise.

Truth is CJ need to come clean on the allegations and shall offer himself for inquiry and answer the 3 questions.

An open mind opinion with many hundred likes:
Let’s not hate Malik Riaz yet

lal masjid mullahs are in real trouble, what to do in this scenario. aik taraf us ka ghar aik taraf mekadah

he left the bench what more do you want he took suo moto action against his own son opened the case this case isnt malik riaz vs arslan its the state of pakistan vs arslan. so he didnt knew malik riaz himself stated that the chief did not knew about any of this his bastard son committed this no body is trying to hush anything it its all out there with overwhelming evidence this case wont go long. that idiot kid took credit cards and everything thta can be traced back to hjim foolishly.... there is but one department that is working better then others and that is the judiciary only bcz of the supreme court.

musharaf didnt kick chief out bcz he was doing curruption or musharaf knew about his son had musharaf known he would made it public rather then taking the blame he kicked the chief out bcz of political differences as he wanted a free judiciary.
i am not saying malik riaz in this case is wrong but you cant blame the chief of justice on what he didnt know was going on. one person is working right and apparently ppp supporters want him gone..............

malik riaz himself is very powerful more powerful then any politician he has given money to all of the politicians meaning he has weaknesses of everybody in his hand he is shrewd and the kid played in his hand when the chief refused to help him out.

malik riaz has not made this case against the chief he said himself that he tried to bribe the chief to help him in bahria town cases but the chief refuse to take the bribe which shows a major sense of morality that is lacking in everybody in pakistan and you want an honest guy like that to quit wow. obviously the opinion of forum members over here do not represent the people as the people take the chiefs side saying that the government is trying to take him down

These are emotional words, while facts suggest otherwise.

what are the facts then case was against his son and yes the facts point very readily towards his guilt which after all the evidence i believe he has committed but why against chief justice do you know the facts that did he knew his son was doing this? fact points his son is guilty not chief justice himself. malik riaz has also said that the chief didnt knew and he believed that the chief would never take the bribe bcz he tried to bribe him. malik riaz is giving evidence against his son not the chief justice so i say punish the son severly after all the chief has left the bench so there should be no what many would call here biased judgments.

The Son Also Rises

When former president General Pervez Musharraf decided to embark upon his politically suicidal path in March 2007, the first step was the production of a reference against the Chief Justice of Pakistan Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry — a fatal move. The first item of the reference concerned the CJP’s son, Arsalan Iftikhar, a doctor, who since then has now come somewhat full circle.

Justice Chaudhry was charged with having influenced the upward mobility of his son’s career. In 1996, the son of a judge of the Balochistan High Court managed a ‘C’ grade in his intermediate examination. This being insufficient for him to gain admission to the Bolan Medical College, Quetta, the judge allegedly approached the Balochistan chief minister with the request that the son be admitted to the college, regardless of his grade and given a special or vacant seat. Apparently this was done.

Nine years later, in June 2005 (his father, by then on the Bench of the Supreme Court), the young doctor was appointed as a medical officer in Quetta’s Institute of Public Health. In July, a short time following this appointment (by this time Justice Chaudhry was chief justice of Pakistan) the Balochistan chief minister again allegedly came to the aid of Arsalan Iftikhar, ordering his promotion as a section officer in the health department.

According to the reference, in that same year, August 2005, the young man decided to redirect his career. A letter was sent by the interior ministry to the Balochistan chief secretary informing him that the FIA wished to acquire the services of Dr Iftikhar. By September 2005, the doctor had a job as an assistant director in the FIA. This was followed up in April 2006 by his promotion to the position of deputy director.

Then, Arsalan, as claimed the reference, decided he would prefer a career in the police service. So, the ministry of the interior acted again, allowing him to bypass the necessary competitive services examination and the commandant of the National Police Academy was instructed to take him and put him through a course of field training, usually exclusive to Police Service of Pakistan (PSP) officers, after which, he was scheduled to move over to the Punjab Police.

But it was not that simple. For the doctor to be admitted as a permanent employee of the PSP, an amendment would have to be made in the Police Service of Pakistan Rules, which required presidential assent, the reference alleged. The prime minister’s secretariat was requested to do the needful but apparently the desired amendment did not materialise. The reference claimed further that in October 2006, he was nominated as a non-PSP officer to attend a training course in Istanbul, interestingly enough on the subject of Combating International Terrorism and Organised crime, the only non-PSP and sole under training individual to do the course.

Well, if our press and Dr Iftikhar are to be believed, the young man has moved on considerably and is now involved in business. He has also done quite a bit of travelling — regularly to Europe, London and Monaco, that we know of. It would seem that he is either naïve or forgetful when it comes down to brass tacks. In his statement dated June 6, made in the Supreme Court, referring to his 2011 visit to London, he stated: “I do not know from whose credit card the rent of the flat, which I remotely remember was around 3,200 pounds sterling per week, was paid. Perhaps I stayed for four weeks…”

All highly unfortunate — a bit of a thorn in the flesh would one not say? The country and his father could well have done without the innuendos and conjecture now being bandied — or with the flashes of truth.

The judge is as crooked as the rest, but this is Pakistan after all so it was expected!

Sir Judge is not crooked Sir he has not taken any money that is why he brought his son in front of court even though Malik Riaz didn't launched any file against him just talking crap on media before blaming some one of corruption at least give some proofs not what his relatives did

Social media revolution is well underway in Pakistan. The new media are coming of age, and trumping the traditional commercial media. Many of the top journalists in the mainstream media knew about Arsalan's Iftikhar's massive corruption but it was through Youtube that the world first learned about it. The same pattern repeated itself when Duniya TV's incriminating off-air video footage found its way on Youtube.

Familygate or Arslangate:

It has now been established that Malik Riaz Husain of Bahria Town approached a number of top TV talk show hosts in Pakistan and shared detailed information, videos and documentation about $3.7 million in illegal payments made to Arsalan Iftikhar, the son of Chief Justice Iftikhar Mohammad Chaudhry, over several years. Others, including Chaudhry Aitazaz Ahsan, knew about it and shared it with Justice Chaudhry a while ago. While rumors swirled among the Capital insiders, the public at large was kept in the dark until recently when a video of Shaheen Sehbai talking about it surfaced on Youtube and forced the mainstream media to finally discuss it on air.

Here's Shaheen Sehbai breaking the scandal on Youtube:

Mediagate:

Several behind-the-scenes video clips of a Dunya TV talk show leaked on Youtube reveal the television hosts appearing to be helping Malik Riaz Husain prepare his answers, and in certain cases even spoon-feeding him the answers.

The leaked video also shows a son of Prime Minister Yousaf Raza Gilani and a daughter of Pakistan Muslim League (Nawaz) chief Nawaz Sharif calling in to try and influence the on-air contents. “Why don’t you start talking about it yourself, otherwise [if we ask] it will seem planted, which it is, but I don’t know if it should look planted,” says Ms Mehr Bukhari to Malik Riaz while Mr Lucman say that “I’ll say it on air that I’ve been "pressurised" by Mian Amir Mehmood (Dunya TV's owner) and Malik Riaz to do this program.”

Here's Duniya TV's leaked video on Youtube:

Questions:

The fact that mainstream media sat on these stories raises serious questions about whose interests are its journalists serving? Why are they afraid to expose the top judges? What kind of illegal payments and other favors are they accepting from the rich and the powerful? How are the commercial interests of the media owners influencing the editorial opinions and news coverage? Are they trying to hide their own guilt? And to what end?

What's Next:

Free and independent media are often seen as an effective watchdog in a democracy. But the question being asked now is who's watching the watchdogs? One possible answer is that the new super watchdogs are the ordinary citizen journalists and bloggers who are active in the new cybermedia and not beholden to any special interests.

High-speed broadband expansion led by PTCL has propelled Pakistan to become the fourth fastest growing broadband market in the world and the second fastest in Asia, according to a recent industry report. Serbia leads all countries surveyed with a 68% annual growth rate from Q1 2010 to Q1 2011. Thailand (67%), Belarus (50%), Pakistan (46%), and Jordan (44%) follow Serbia. India is in 14th place worldwide with a 35% annual growth rate.

In spite of rapid growth, the level of Internet penetration is Pakistan is still low. In a population of 177 million, only 18.5 million (10.4 percent) are connected to the Internet, though government officials quote a slightly higher figure of 20 million. Although it's twice that of India's Internet penetration of about 5%, Pakistan's penetration percentage is less than those in Tunisia (33.4 percent) and Egypt (21.1 percent). However, Internet use in Pakistan is growing at a rapid rate, particularly in urban centers where 40% of the population lives, which are also home to the middle class which often forms the backbone of mass-scale uprisings. Mobile Internet use shot up 161 percent in 2010 alone.

Summary:

I believe that Pakistan is entering a new era of the Internet media. And I hope that the new social media will continue to enjoy sufficient freedom and growth to provide wide enough access in Pakistan for the citizen journalists to play their role as a watchdog where the mainstream commercial media fails. Sunlight is indeed the best disinfectant for the rot that characterizes Pakistan's power centers today.
