Cherishing old memories

Hi,

I was just listening to old Pakistani music of 90's ...on youtube.....listening to Vital Signs, Nazia and Zoheb Hassan's songs, Alamgir, Junoon,...and realised what a great time it really was... ..Songs like Sanwali Saloni si Mehbooba, Dil Dil Pakistan, Teri Meri Aisi dosti, Main ne tumhari gagar se , dekha na tha kabhi hum ne ye sama, Hai Jazba Junoon,. These songs were such great hits at tht time... Even Today, when we listen, these songs...they take u to another world....And then we had tht golden era of PTV...with great artistes like Moeen Akhtar, Anwar Maqsood..who usully used to host functions of PTV..What great fun..it used to be...watching the trio of Anwar Maqsood, Moin akhtar and Bushra Ansari, together in different functions..Serials of Haseena Moin, and her contemporary writers were a treat to watch....PTV was truly family entertainment channel... . Although there are so many private channels now.but theres so much vulgarity on tv...Those times..were the golden era of our entertainment industry...there was a totaly different feel ... dont u ppl think so?.Many ppl might not agree with me...but i hate today's media, in many many respects... Nationalism has totally disappeard from today's media..Days like 14th August, and 23rd March were so much fun in those days... There used to be continuous tranmission..Oh do u ppl remember those plays on Nishan e haider heroes? They used to come on 6th Septemeber... I remember how anxiously i used to wait for them every year...now..its just not the same..although there are many more channels...Does anybody remember election transmissions? Those used to be great fun also...

Not only, i am talking abt entertainment industry, but even in sports...we were at the top... In 1992, we won the world cup...well, i was only 7 yrs old at tht time..so dont remember tht...but then, after tht...team of Wasim, Waqar, Aqib, , Saeed Anwar...remember those days? In Squash..we had, Jehangir Khan, Jansher khan...Eve hockey team used to be so good...

Not everything was perfect at tht time...but still....it was so much peaceful....Now since 2001, War on terror, theres so much chaos...every where in Pakistan...I miss those old days.. ...Hopefully we will pass through this difficult phase of our history soon...I am very hopeful tht after this phase of trials, we will have a glorious future soon Inshallah....

I too desire that Pakistan be the most glorious nation from among all the nations. I want Pakistan to be a nation whose inhabitants are nationalistic, consider themselves unique, & are able to think for themselves.

However at this moment, I feel Pakistan needs to get rid of a lot of crap present in it. A massive change in the society's culture along with a change in the leadership is required. Education along with the promotion of individual thought is necessary to solve many of Pakistan's problems. Religion plays an extremely significant role in Pakistan, however I notice there is a lot of cherry picking & hypocrisy in regards to religion. People tend to follow certain religious laws but they ignore those they dislike.

As for nationalism, I noticed that there are way too many Pan-Islamists in Pakistan. I agree that Muslim nations should support each other & it is true that Muslims do spiritually constitute one brotherhood. It does not however mean that Pakistanis be willing to die for those who do not care about them, that is embarassing & shameful. Don't get me wrong, I love Islam, however I think nationalism should be based more on roots since that is what all Pakistanis share with each other. I would love to see the "Aryan Kingdom of Pakistan".

Oh yeah I am no fan of democracy either, I think one person that is wise & benevolent must rule over a land for it to be successful as it was the case with countless civilizations in the past. These are my views, in fact I have many suggestions for Pakistan to improve itself, but I am not in the mood to type them at the moment.
