Chandrayaan-3 Mission Successfully Landed!!!

Well done India

whats even more impressive is they did it with just 1/3 of the cost of Russia

and Russia is already much cheaper than any nation in the West

which means from a financial point of view its a great achievement

important point that. Remember the highest cost is salaries and wages. The top 200 to 300 people involved in such missions could write their own ticket in any US or European companies but still chose to remain and work in India making Indian government scale wages. It is not shabby but relative to what they could have made this is truly a sacrifice each of them make

Only in very recent times private sector is getting into research oriented domains and perhaps they can make a bit more due to that

Massive achievement.
India has been sending satellite 🛰
commercially for a long time.

While in Pakistan, SUPARCO is headed by a Rt ( Retarded) General.
Fauj will soon send down an ice ball down K2. By the time it shall reach base station, it will be the size of a small white moon :)

Congratulations, a great achievement!

They actually will soon sell K2 to the highest bidder to have another general buy a pizza franchise and skedaddle out of Pakistan. God what a shameless entity it has become. It has and will always hold Pakistan back..

It is not a question of salaries. See the path of Chandrayaan3:

As soon as I saw, I remembered something from my math class a few decades back. This path is the least energy consuming trajectory from earth to any celestial object. ISRO, carefully pursued a highly efficient trajectory to minimize fuel consumption. That allows smaller boosters to be used and increase reliability. It also allows increased payload for a given rocket fuel allowing packing larger redundancy into payload. By gradually increasing the orbit and then shrinking it, they maintained better control and prevented the type of runaway disasters that befell Luna-25.

Chandrayaan3 is a Toyota Prius. Luna-25 was a Chevy Suburban.

sure and that may increase efficiency reduce the risk profile.
By costs what I meant is quite straight fwd: 300+ highly educated trained specialist engineers and scientists @400k USD/p.a would be by itself $120M + India didn't pay even half that

What difference does it make to the lives of poor Indians on the street if it was successful or not?

All you gained is some useless bragging rights.

The credit goes to NASA & ESA who helped India.
oh so your heart is broken then. condolences

This was an incident right after my PhD, I was in CLEO (Conference on Laser and Electro-Optics) conference in San Diego, after my presentation, the Director of IIT-D approached me and asked what is your plan after your PhD. I politely told him I already have few jobs lined up, I am just taking a break from academia and doing my thesis correction.

He told me that he is very interested in my research, and he can offer me an academic position in IIT-D and will help me secure DRDO funding, but the salary he can offer is only 15 Lakhs INR. The jobs lined up had been offering me >$200K including equities.

So when we talk about our scientists, we have to consider the sacrifices they have made to stay back for the country. And I'm still in contact with him, sometime in the future maybe I will join IIT too, as a professor.

indeed.
Almost every technicrat role under a Indian govt dept involves such sacrifices. It is particularly pronounced in momentum sciences
