It's not about post divorce care. It's about the way it is handled. Unlike in Pakistan, there is a court that handles these cases, with hearings and iddat, takes a lot of time and Talaq in India is instant three and local imam will handle the rest, concerning the gifts and other exchanges done during marriage.
Also it's not actually the government's decision, it's SC's decision on plea by a group of Muslim women.

It's one-sided and abused system that hurts Muslim women the most. No other Muslim country allows it, not even Pakistan or Saudi Arabia, but it still exists in pseudo-secular India. I blame Congress for these sorry state of affairs. Not only should triple talaq be eliminated, but the powers of the these personal law boards be severely curtailed.

I don't see Hindu men telling their wives "talaq, talaq, talaq." Hindu women, unlike Muslim women, have legal recourse. Muslim women in India want the elimination of triple talaq and the government should give it to them.
