KARACHI: Mobile telecommunication companies in Pakistan are not paying Rs 400 billion per year taxes to Federal Board of Revenue (FBR), NAB Chairman Justice (retd) Javed Iqbal said here in a meeting with FBR officials here in Islamabad.
NAB Chairman Justice (retd) Javed Iqbal stressed upon improving tax collection system of Federal Board of Revenue (FBR), Government of Pakistan as Pakistan is investor’s friendly country and is the best country for Foreign Investment and we should try utmost for collecting taxes for protecting our national interests as per law.
He said that mobile phone companies are not paying Rs 400 billion due taxes to the FBR. The potential tax is not being allegedly collected and deposited in the national exchequer by mobile phone companies as reported, he said.
The chairman NAB said that NAB has seven regional Bureaus which have been headed by Director Generals of NAB who have already been directed to ensure resolving people’s corruption-related complaints as per law. The complainants must also be informed about the status of their complaints.
He said that strict action should be taken against those NAB officials who call again and again the innocent people unlawfully and reopen the inquiry investigation once those have been closed.
