If you've got the Politicians, be it allies or not, on your side...
If you've got the population on your side...
If you've got a "condition" and an "objective" that speak to every single one...
And last... if the overall majority tells you... "Do, we accept the consequences"...

I think with all of that, combined... there is a pretty good case for that possibility to be "almost" true.

But of course, this is just, my opinion, and hold nothing in the great schemes of things.
