I can safely say this British ambassador guy and the rest of the naive bunch were hired by the CIA to carry out this stupid act. They were not working for the UK because the UK is one of the least noise makers over Iranian nuclear activities.

They were definitely collecting samples for checking radioactivity in the soil.

This is the exact same area which Israeli intelligence and US think tanks marked as (test sites 1,2 and 3) the place where Iran may have silently conducted no yield cold fission tests in extra deep tunnels as earliest as in 90s.

They thought IRGC won't be watching them from skies. Naive people.

Either collecting the samples to determine whether Iran actually conducted a secret test or contaminating the soil with nuclear material to use as 'evidence' to frame Iran just like they did for Iraq.

The color of the exhaust can give you a clue about the main mass of the propellant which even an amateur can detect but there are other constituents that (A) Sustain themselves after the burnout so are collected by adversary agencies (B) Help in throttling the Solid motor during Boost or Mid phase for trajectory change. US and USSR used to hunt for each other SLVS and ICBMS separated stages even deep inside oceans for that purpose.

This is Zoljanah SLV (fired last week) and Sejjil-GRV IRBM both use related engines but their thursts, speeds, ISPs all are different. Adverary's Air defence unit will be dead interested in knowing what is inside these motors to know (A) which phase is more vulnerable for interceptions and (B) The direction Iranian engineers are taking in further development lets say they use Zoljanah with RV for ICBM strike.

All in all, its more about nuclear sampling IMO because this area is exactly which Israelis/Americans marked as cold test site in 2018. They even gave it a name I remember when the news came out in 18.

if they pass the photos through the spectrophotometric filters help a lot about the content , also the speed of acceleration and burning time also help a lot
