Cash-strapped Pakistan buys submarines -F/T

Strange but i thought it was mentioned in another thread that the sub idea was scrapped?

Why are you calling the Financial Times a troll?

I'm not calling them a troll, that makes no sense. Anyways nice attempt at being "funny" it was a fail though. I'm saying certain members from Pakistan's east neighbor just join here to say stupid things. You should know about that very well

Mate, if thats the case, why do you point fingers at Pakistan when they buy this Subs?

Since you seem to love our History, maybe have a read at why exactly have we been ruled in the past. Bravery was never a virtue of ours.

You need to learn how to read, and where exactly are my fingers pointing at anyway?

I'm happy for Pakistan as it means less money available to spend on her economy.

Sure, will take up your reading advice mate. In the mean time, Let me quote you....

Subs wont help you people, when you biggest crisis, is war against terrorist. No one buys for showcase, trust me.

You cant compare middle east nations to a south asia nation, likewise you cant compare European nations like Switzerland and Lux to Pakistan

I'm happy for Pakistan as it means less money available to spend on her economy.
Oh, dont worry. That money never actually goes in to the economy any ways.

Pakistan is buying 6 subs while India is looking to purchase 6. Strange isn;t it? It is known that Subs are a very critical arm of any military and it is a key area that Indian has not addressed with sufficient numbers. India needs to procure more numbers..

Our FDI went up by 44%, not down by 19%. Where is this website getting its info from?

Pakistan does what Pakistan pleases.

Their money, their concerns, their priorities. I am sure whoever decided that the sub deal should go through had a good reason to do so and has much more data available to him than anyone on this forum

Sir ,

With due respect, should'nt we ourselves be spending more money on the Infra ourselves (And please don't go the %GDP route of Justifying our defense allocation). I hear the Givernment has ambitious plans for Infra development starting 2012 .. Do you guys have any Idea?.

I do agree with some points of the articles though. Considering the deficit, it would have been tactical to avoid this purchase altogether. This coupled with few reforms like VAT, Agri Taxes, etc would have reignited faith of the international donor's in Pakistan Government.

Warning: Offtopic

Thank you Sir, for all the respect.

And yes you are very right. The government of India should rather be spending more in education and infrastructure. Focusing just these two aspects can provide the whole country with a long term sustainable development. (And no, I am not one of those who try to tease others with the %age of GDP spent on this or that. I believe the surroundings more than the computer screens or newspapers. The numbers, no matter how big, can never alleviate the pain I get each time I see a migrant Mazdoor fighting over 2 rupees with his contractor. So no %age allocation of GDP here).

The most major plan I have heard of is that of Mumbai Delhi corridor, to cost around $100 Billion, and Japan was to be a major participant in that. About Japan, don't know anymore.

On the topic:

I see only two reasons for this purchase. One just, one unjust.

The justifiable reason is that Pakistan is under India's threat all the time. And worse, Pakistan has a coastal line, but a relatively very weak Navy. The business center of Pakistan is also a coastal city, which it needs to protect at all costs, against a much more powerful navy of India. So, the purchase of those subs sounds just to me.

The unjust reason - Quite like the military/Navy/AF of any other third-world nation, there is a good amount of corruption in Pakistan Navy too. Such purchases always bring in handsome retirement funds for some particular members of the force. And do not believe anyone if they tell you that it doesn't happen in India or the US or in China or in Pakistan. It is pure business, no one can stop that.

delhi der paddle...First of all, all people have different opinions, some will be happy some not happy.

You have absolutely no idea about Defense procurements and over all Defense security.
I am not going to argue about your Cry and rants on PN Sub Purchases its already Burning you from inside that is a good thing you're sitting on a burning oven. (i wouldn't be dragging in indi slums)
Of all one of the reasons is PN is upgrading its capabilities as we have the right to.
Subs would help us to the extend that india does not repeat what it did in 1971, Subs are the the ghost hounds fearsome as the hunt for their prey no ship would be coming closer as it did in 1971. So YES no one is buying them for show case but this time around we'll prevent blockade and use aggressive manoeuvrings.
Leave WOT to us Pak Army has outclassed any Army of the world in defeating external paid terrorists and we continue to do so.

Oh please don't compare lil swissy to Pakistan you are out of your friggin mind mr. siddhu's lil brother.

You have no idea what your talking about don't you. That comment was a direct reply to another poster not about the article. And what I said about Pakistan current crisis is true in regards to most Pakistanis.
