8,248 died from Covid-19 in 2020
Cardiac arrest was the number one killer in Bangladesh in 2020, claiming the lives of 180,408 people, which is 21.1 percent of the country’s total 8,54,253 deaths during the year.

Statistics and Informatics Division Secretary Mohammad Yamin Chowdhury revealed the data in a press conference at BBS Bhaban here on Wednesday afternoon.

In 2019, some 147,259 people died of cardiac arrests, which was 17.9 percent of the total 822,841 deaths in the country, he said.
Bedsides, 8,248 people died of Covid-19 in 2020, said Yamin Chowdhury.

According to the BBS data, stroke claimed 85,360 lives, the second highest, while respiratory diseases killed 73,839 people, the third highest, during the period.

Besides, 43,204 people died of heart diseases, 34,694 of pneumonia, 29,850 of liver cancer, 28,017 of kidney diseases, 27,755 of high blood pressure, 25,006 of diabetes, 13,092 of paralysis, 12,306 in road accidents, 10,997 of jaundice, 10,474 in incidents of drowning, 10,212 of liver cirrhosis, and 11,259 people killed themselves.

Apart from the major causes, dengue claimed 786 lives in 2020, which was 2,360 in 2019.
In 2020, 1,833 people were murdered, while lightning claimed 393 lives

Imagine the stress people go thru when they reach an intersection and all four branches are named Bangabandhu....Haseena need to rethink this policy of naming everything Bangabandhu

Bangladesh finally achieved rich country standards, people are dying of diabetes and cardiac arrests....

Number one cause of Heart attack is Artery diseases which are caused by Diabetes. Most of the people in this part of Asia don't even know they are Diabetic 2.
Diabetic 2 cause issues in blood which become thick and create blood clots which in turn can cause heart attack or Stroke.
So take Diabetic medicine Metmorfin regularly and 81mg Aspirin to keep blood thinner. Best remedy is Diet and Exercises then the medicine. If LDL high like 130 then take Lipitor also. LDL creats plaque in the arteries which become deadly if one has Diabetes also.

If one can control its Diet and do daily exercises or even long walks will never have these issues of Heart failure, liver and kidney failure and Brain Stroke. Taking Medication is necessary if one cannot control its Diet and don't do any exercises.

1) Stay away from Sugar also known as added sugar. Found in Mithai, cakes, cookies, Sodas, Dairy products. Instead eat fruits which has fructose to compensate for sugar. Like Berries, water melon, even mangoes which are high in fibers, oranges, apples.
2) Stay away from processed food and food which is high in Carb like bread, Nans paratha, Rice, pasta . Try to eat wheat bread .
3) Red meat like beef no good either.
Try to eat Goat or Chicken. Fish is good also if not Fried . Eat Chicken without skin or not fried like KFC. Eat eggs without yolks.
4) Eat almonds and Akhroat. Leave almonds overnight in water, peel skin then eat it. Almond skin is not good to eat.
5) Stay away from Sodium also known as Salt. Will cause High Blood pressure and other heart diseases.

Once in moonlight you can cheat and eat Nihari or Paya or Rabri. But rest of time go strict with your Diet and Exercise.

The vast majority cannot even afford to buy meat regularly let alone the above yet heart disease is rising. It is excessive carbs and overcooking food in oil which is killing us. People need to get into the habit of limiting carbs and having more fresh veggies and lean protein (preferably grilled).

Typically people of subcontinent are more prone to diabetes and coronary artery disease than others.

I think people should exercise regularly. If you can exercise regularly you will digest everything.

Look at the people who work hard ( physically) , they have less disease.

They even don't get extra fat. they eat huge amount of bhaat but remain healthy.

So yes exercise is the key to remain healthy.

Our food habit is mostly responsible for the untimely death of many people because of heart problems. Many are due to diabetes. Eating too much beef and sweets, and not taking raw vegetables seems to be fun in BD and the schools do not also teach how to maintain one's health.

So, it is not a sin to eat a full stomach up to one's throat. Potbelly is common among even people in their 20s.
