for sea launch you need a sea capable missile and frigates or destroyers, not aircraft carriers!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!,,,,,,,

WE SHOULD RATHER BUY SOME TYPE 052, ALONG WITH A SQUADRON OF j 11.,,,,,,,that ought to work fine for our coast line.

I clicked the wrong button-----it was not to thank you for the post----threats to the u s are not welcome-----.

I would request the poster to refrain from such threats----may 2nd just happened a few days ago----then the mehran base attack----is pakistan in any position to threaten anyone----

Don't use Mehran base attack to degrade PN, GHQ also were attacked but they still protecting our border and fighting against terrorists. These kind of attacks were planned for demoralization of strategic forces and provide reason for some kind of people to pass their weak comments.

Problem is every one like to jump over ready dish except few who tried to built slow and steadily and unfortunately Pakistan comes in everyone but not in few.

Air Craft Carriers had their advantages in old world wars, when planes could not fly great distances, a country used to move the command center on ship along with planes to enemy's borders and attack it

Now , same could be done with ICBM with advancement in science, and Missile technologies , countries can achieve similar results with usage of Inter continental Missiles and Long Range high altitude bombers which can fly 24 hours straight.

The Aircraft carrier , is still a useful tool to engage operations against nations , who do not have ICBM or Bombers , as its a means to intimidate them.

Nations constructed Aircraft carriers in early 1900's , and to imagine Pakistan in 2011 Cannot make such a craft is beyond imagination just takes some vision and ambition but over all we don't have a urgent need for it

At present due to financial crisis having a aircraft carrier is really out of our budget we can get 10 frigates, and 1-2 destroyers for same amount , and they can be more effective in operations at seas

i think it is wasted aircraft carrier which is not actively use in Thai navy to due to repairing cost
we talk to USA fo old mini carrier for theme park
2nd we must to boom our economy than defense
pn needs more frigates destroyers and submarines
we may afford Landing Helicopter Dock but not carrier
our enemy is close to us that our missiles and ships can reach easily.
some friends had said that we buy j-11
but i think we purchase UAE's mirages 2000-5 which they are now selling or replacing with any other jets

One Modern Frigate come in $600-$900 million same for Destroyer. If you buy chinese one you may get 20% discount.. HJow can you buy 12 ships in cost of 1 aircraft carrier?????

Kiity Hawk class carrier cost 6-7 billion USD.
Vikadi Cost 2.5 billion Dollars
Vrayag cost 2 Billion USD (Max)
