Maybe someone in the Army Aviation should pay attention to this opportunity and ask for the transfer of these Chinooks under FMS to Pakistan?

Canadian Air Force to Sell Chinook Helicopters - Air Force Technology

The Canadian Air Force plans to sell its five Chinook helicopters deployed in Afghanistan.

The air force decided to sell the choppers once combat missions have ended in Afghanistan as there is a new fleet of helicopters on order.

Canada purchased the CH-147D choppers from the US in a government-to-government arrangement.

The new F-series choppers have been modified with large fuel tanks and improved sensors, according to CTVNews.

Canada intended to spend $4.7bn on 15 new Chinooks a few years ago.

Bravo, I was about to post that a while ago too,,,,looks like a very decent option but then again, permission from US and maintainenece infrastructure would be a potential hurdle for this. But this would be a juicy option as Canadians would charge very reasonable (if not the give away prices).

Turkey is going to buy i think 6? or something chinooks from usa.
maybe they can better buy from canadians for much cheaper prices.

Few days back Norway was selling there F 16s fleet to Pakistan, any update on that

I don't think the deal is going to materialize as few years back we had Chinook helicopters on offer from Italy but nothing materialized .i think PA is happy with current Mi-17 helicopters and don't want to diversify its current armory of heavy weight choppers

these are old d models.used by americans and then canadians.these are reall old chops.we are buying 14 new f model of chinooks.

Chinooks are with out doubt a great machine to have in your colors but provided the financila constrains, PA might not be getting these or one can, PA can not get the maximum befefit out of these.
a small fleet, still requiring the complete maintainance facility wont be a cost effective idea.
we have lot of experience with the Mi-17, now these are also being rolled-out in china so these are the best option for meuum lift ability of PA.

AoA,

In my opinion, we MUST buy these, and try to buy some military equipment from countries rather than USA, as they have monoplaised our Military. We have the right to buy from which so ever country and USA cannot force us to buy its technology.

Maybe buying like this, slowly, would gradually move USA products aside and build place for itself. This would also strongen relations between the country, which is homing many of our nationals.

Regards.

if you buy these without usa spare parts how u ll operate it?

holland selling some good weapons from their inventory.

f16s
even frigates.

The CH-47 is one piece of hardware most desired by the Army..and the one piece of hardware the US refuses to talk about..
make a guess why...

This is an excellent opportunity for Pakistani Government to increase its arsenal of transport helicopters. In the wake of recent flood tragedy that took place last year, I am sure that Chinooks will play a pivotal role in emergency rescue, aid distribution, evacuation of injured and other such activities.

even india can talk to them about this if every thing goes good then these + the one india may buy from US it will be a good inventory to keep

Pakistan can't purchase any defense equipment from Canada due to arms embargo.:smokin:
