It is reported that Salma Zahid and Iqra Khalid participated in the elections and defeated the opposition candidates.

Pakistani Canadian Salma Zahid defeated Resin James of the opposition conservative party for the Scarborough Center for Liberals.

According to media reports, Salma moved from Pakistan to Canada with her family 15 years ago, whereas the other Pakistani candidate who won the election is Iqra Khalid.

In the general election, the Liberal Party won by defeating the Canadian ruling party, the Conservative Party, in a contest between the Liberal Party and the Conservative Party.

After which Justin Trudeau, the leader of the Liberal Party, will be Canada’s next Prime Minister.

There are a large number of Pakistani Canadians living in Canada, who are serving in several institutions of the country. Furthermore, they are taking part in elections as candidates as well.

Canada’s Elections
In recent elections of Canada on 21 October with 33 percent support, Trudeau wins the popular vote.

Trudeau, the Liberal leader, and Conservative leader Andrew Scheer were the two top contenders in Monday’s competitive general election. More than 300 parliamentary seats were up for grabs.

Great news... that Pakistani diaspora in Canada was able to put its act together instead of being divided over petty issues.

Liberal victory is nice and all but NDP would've been better for Pakistan
Jagmeet Singh is a nationalist sikh he has links to the Khalistan movement

They were elected last term as well.
There is another Pakistani Sameer Zuberi elected from Quebec. His mother is German ..
Also from the liberal party .

The Liberals lost support in every province across Canada.Justin Trudeau will remain prime minister because voters in Quebec and Ontario didn't want to give the job to Conservative Leader Andrew Scheer. For the first time since 1979, the party that won the most votes didn't win the most seats. With 157 seats, the Liberals have a big minority government. But nearly three-quarters of the Liberal caucus will hail from just two provinces, Ontario and Quebec, while two other provinces — Alberta and Saskatchewan — won't have a single member sitting on the governing benches.
In Ontario, the Liberals were down only about three percentage points, still managing to take over 41 per cent of the vote in the province and outpacing the Conservatives by a significant margin. That only cost the Liberals a net loss of one seat.
The key for the Liberals was holding their vote in the decisive Greater Toronto Area. They swept all 25 of Toronto's seats and even increased their share of the vote slightly. They also came out of the surrounding suburbs with 24 of 29 seats — identical to where they were on election night in 2015.There are 12 seats from Mississauga and Brampton. All went to liberals because majority Muslims and Sikhs were supporting liberals While Hindus were campaigning for PC.

the Liberal Party has defeated the ruling conservative party.

The Conservative party was not ruling.

Canada voted left wing in the Liberals, Progressives and Greens receiving well over 50% of the vote. Conservatives received about 95% of the vote of the right wingers... so the election if this were an alliance of the left vs alliance of the right, the liberals would win the outright majority with the helps of Greens and NDP. Liberals would receive over 225 seats with 55% of the vote.

First past the post hurts the left because they divide their votes between three anti-conservative parties in large numbers.

Strong Pakistani diasporas in certain GTA ridings, especially in Scarborough, North York (Thorncliffe) and Mississauga. By the time the next general election, I expect we'll see a new one in Milton too (a lot of Pakistanis from Scarborough and Brampton are moving there).

TORONTO -- Liberal candidate and former Olympic athlete Adam van Koeverden has been elected as the Member of Parliament for Milton, defeating Conservative Lisa Raitt who has held the riding since 2008.

More than 100 people gathered in an Irish bar in Milton to celebrate van Koeverden’s victory Monday night. As the results were called, he told reporters that he was “just happy.”

“I’m just satisfied with the amount of work we’ve done. Hard work pays off,” he said. “We hit the ground. We talked to our neighbours. We asked them what they wanted. And they delivered.”

The decorated athlete and two-time Olympic flag bearer defeated the long-term incumbent in his first year in politics.

Raitt, who was appointed by Conservative Leader Andrew Scheer as the Deputy Leader of the Conservative Party of Canada, was first elected into the House of Commons when the riding was called Halton.

She has held various high-profile positions during her time as an MP, including minister of natural resources, minister of transportation and finance critic for the Official Opposition.

Van Koeverden told reporters that Raitt called him to congratulate him on his win.

“I told her I’ve got big shoes to fill. She’s a good MP,” he said.

Prior to entering politics, van Koeverden worked as a managing consultant with Deloitte and a broadcaster, writer and producer with CBC. He represented Canada at four Olympics, winning a gold medal, two silvers and a bronze in kayaking.

He is also an avid volunteer and has dedicated much of his time working for organizations like Right to Play, WaterAID, the Special Olympics, Parkinson’s Canada and the David Suzuki Foundation.

Van Koeverden said that his goal entering Parliament is to “keep listening.”

“I think there is a lot of talking in politics and there is not enough listening,” he said. “My ambition is to represent Milton first.”

Speaking to a crowd in Milton, Raitt thanked her team, her supporters, and Scheer for giving her the opportunity to become deputy leader of the party.

“I can tell you this, I am so lucky for having had the trust of Miltonians for the past 11 years. And I am so proud of what we’ve been able to accomplish together.”

When asked about her phone call to van Koeverden, Raitt said that she thanked him for a “great campaign.”

“I know that he’s going to go on and represent Milton in a way that will be respectful and give dignity to the home town.”

He was contesting on the ticket of PPC an anti immigration party.
